While I've never heard the original Hendrix version, I am forever hooked on Chris Cornell singing this song. He did it with Mike McCready, Jeff Ament and Matt Cameron for a Hendrix tribute album. If you have the opportunity, try and find this song to take a listen - you won't be disappointed!

I've only really recently discovered Kings Of Leon as anything other than 'that band that has that stupid song title about sex.'

 

They're actually a bloody good band - I'm amazed. I love their sound, but it's nothing amazing. But LYRICALLY - they just nail certain sentiments, at least one in every song.

 

My current favourites:

and particularly
