MissWhitlock
Three Cheers for Five Years- Mayday Parade I swear that you don't have to go I thought we could wait for the fireworks I thought we could wait for the snow To wash over Georgia and kill the hurt I thought I could live in your arms And spend every moment I had with you Stay up all night with the stars Confess all the faith that I had in you To late, I'm sure and lonely Another night, another dream wasted on you Just be here now against me You know the words so sing along for me baby For heaven's sake I know you're sorry But you won't stop crying This anniversary may never be the same Inside I hope you know I'm dying With my heart beside me In shattered pieces that may never be replaced And if I died right now you'd never be the same I thought with a month of apart Together would find us an opening And moonlight would provide the spark And that I would stumble across the key Or break down the door to your heart Forever could see us not you and me And you'd help me out of the dark And I'd give my heart as an offering And I will always remember you as you are right now to me And I will always remember now Sleep alone tonight with no one here just by your side How does he feel, how does he kiss How does he taste while he's on your lips I can't forget you I know you want me to want you I want to But I can't forgive you So when this is over don't blow your composure baby I can't forgive you I know you want me to want you I want to I love all their song lyrics, apart from Black Cat and When I Get Home You're So dead. Black Cat is just...stupid.
Nollaig
Very short, but key segment from a song that overall rings very true with me "Shouldn't let you conquer me completely. Now I can't let go of this dream. Can't believe that I feel... good enough I feel good enough. It's been such a long time coming, but I feel good. And I'm still waiting for the rain to fall. Pour real life down on me. 'Cause I can't hold on to anything this good. Am I good enough for you to love me too? So take care what you ask of me, 'cause I can't say no. Nollaig
"It's the wrong kinda place to be thinking of you, it's a small crime, and I got no excuse, and is that alright, yeah?" - Damien Rice, 9 Crimes "Stones, taught me to fly, Love, taught me to lie And life, it taught me to die, So come on courage, teach me to be shy, Cause it's not hard to fall When you float like a cannonball (and I don't wanna scare her, and it's not hard to fall, and I don't wanna lose, it's not hard to grow, when you know that you just don't know.)" - Damien Rice, Cannonball "Nothing unusual, Nothing strange, Close to nothing at all. Nothing unusual, Nothing strange Just a little older, that's all. And you know when you've found it, That's something I've learned, Coz you feel it when they take it away I'm not sinner, no I'm not a saint, I'm just another lonely soldier On a road to nowhere And Amie, come sit on my wall And read me, the Story Of O, And tell it like you still believe, That the end of the century Brings a change for you and me." - Damien Rice, Amie "And I want these words to make things right, but it's the wrongs that make the words come to life" - Fall Out Boy, Thnks 4 the Mmrs Edited April 25, 2009 by Nollaig
lexiepiper
I'm not sure if these have been posted, but I adore the lyrics for Konstantine: I can't imagine all the people that you know and the places that you go when the lights are turned down low and I don't understand all the things you've seen but i'm slipping inbetween you and your big dreams it's always you in my big dreams and you tell me that it's over wake up lying in a patch of four leaf clovers and your restless, and i'm naked you've gotta get out you can't stand to see me shaking no could you let me go? I didn't think so and you don't wanna be here in the future so you say the present's just a pleasant interruption to the past and you don't wanna look much closer cuz your afraid to find out all this hope you had sent into the sky by now had crashed and it did because of me and then you bring me home afraid to find out that you're alone and i'm sleeping in your living room but we don't have much room to live I had these dreams that i learned to play guitar maybe cross the country become a rock star and there was hope in me that i could take you there but dammit you're so young well i don't think i care and if i hurt you then i'm sorry please don't think that this was easy then you bring me home cuz we both know what it's like to be alone and i'm dreaming in your living room but we don't have much room to live and konstantine is walking down the stairs doesn't she look good standing in her underwear and i was thinking what i was thinking we've been drinking and it doesn't get me anywhere my Konstantine came walking down the stairs and all that i could do is touch her long blonde hair and i've been thinking it hurts me thinking that these nights when we were drinking no they never got us anywhere no this is because i can spell konfusion with a k and i like it it's to dying in another's arms and why I had to try it it's to jimmy eat world and those nights in my car when the first star you see may not be a star I'm not your star isn't that what you said what you thought this song meant and if this is what it takes just to lie in my mistakes and live with what i did to you and all the hell I put you through I always catch the clock it's 11:11 and now you want to talk it's not hard to dream you'll always be my konstantine konstantine, they'll never hurt you like i do no they'll never hurt you like i do no, no, no no no no no no this is to a girl who got into my head with all the pretty things she did hey you know you keep me up in bed this is to a girl who got into my head with all the f**ked up things i did hey maybe baby you could keep me up in bed my Konstantine spin around me like a dream we played out on this movie screen and i said did you know i missed you? [x7] oh god i miss you and then you bring me home and we'll go to sleep, but this time, not alone, no no and you'll kiss me in your living room i know you'll miss me in your living room cuz these nights i think maybe that i'll miss you in my living room we don't have much room i said does anybody need that room? because we all need a little more room to live

Peacefield
While I've never heard the original Hendrix version, I am forever hooked on Chris Cornell singing this song. He did it with Mike McCready, Jeff Ament and Matt Cameron for a Hendrix tribute album. If you have the opportunity, try and find this song to take a listen - you won't be disappointed! Hey Baby (Land of the New Rising Sun) So now you've caught on Hey baby, where do you, comin' from, Boy she looked at me and smiled, And looked into space And she said, 'I'm comin' from the land of new rising sun' And I said, 'hey, baby where you tryin' to go to' Then she says, 'I'm gonna spread around peace of mind And a whole lotta love to you and you' Hey girl I'd like to come along Yes, I'd love to come along 'Would you like to come along?' She asked me 'Yes take me along right now' Hey baby, can I step into your world a while? 'Yes you can' she said 'Come on back with me for a while We're gonna go across the Jupiter sun And see all your people one by one You gotta help your people out right now That's what I'm doin' it all about' 'Yeah yeah, may I come along? May I come along? May I come along? Yeah yeah Please take me'
Andaira
My current favorite song lyric is from the song Your Guardian Angel by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus When I see your smile Tears roll down my face I can't replace And now that I'm strong I have figured out How this world turns cold and it breaks through my soul And I know I'll find deep inside me I can be the one I will never let you fall (let you fall) I'll stand up with you forever I'll be there for you through it all (through it all) Even if saving you sends me to heaven It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. Seasons are changing And waves are crashing And stars are falling all for us Days grow longer and nights grow shorter I can show you I'll be the one I will never let you fall (let you fall) I'll stand up with you forever I'll be there for you through it all (through it all) Even if saving you sends me to heaven Cuz you're my, you're my, my, my true love, my whole heart Please don't throw that away Cuz I'm here for you Please don't walk away and Please tell me you'll stay woah, stay woah Use me as you will Pull my strings just for a thrill And I know I'll be okay Though my skies are turning gray I will never let you fall I'll stand up with you forever I'll be there for you through it all Even if saving you sends me to heaven [to fade]

Nollaig
I've only really recently discovered Kings Of Leon as anything other than 'that band that has that stupid song title about sex.' They're actually a bloody good band - I'm amazed. I love their sound, but it's nothing amazing. But LYRICALLY - they just nail certain sentiments, at least one in every song. My current favourites: 'I get lost in the night, so high, I don't wanna come down.' - Revelry and particularly "I never ever cried when I was feeling down, I've always been scared of the sound, Jesus don't love me, no one ever carried my load, I'm too young to feel this old." - Cold Desert. Oh, and while I'm at it, I might as well include the lines I like most from Rizzo's signature song, which are my favourite lines in any song in Grease, and also related to the above sentiment: "I could hurt someone like me, Out of spite, or jealousy I don't steal, and I don't lie but I can feel, and I can cry - A fact I'll bet you never knew. But to cry in front of you; That's the worst thing I could do.' Edited June 13, 2009 by Nollaig
Rosalind
Citizen Erase by Muse Break me in, teach us to cheat And to lie, cover up What shouldn't be shared And the truth's unwinding Scraping away at my mind Please stop asking me to describe For one moment I wish you'd hold your stage With no feelings at all Open minded I'm sure I used to be so free Self expressed, exhausting for all To see and to be What you want and what you need The truth's unwinding Scraping away at my mind Please stop asking me to describe For one moment I wish you'd hold your stage With no feelings at all Open minded I'm sure I used to be so free For one moment I wish you'd hold your stage With no feelings at all Open minded I'm sure I used to be so free Wash me away Clean your body of me Erase all the memories They will only bring us pain And I've seen, all I'll ever need If you ever read 1984 or Brave New World, or maybe have some apocaliptical view to the world this is the Muse song you'de love. I love the song, played live if possible there is a cross over from guitar into piano right before the last verse and it's so beautiful and moving it almost gets me to tear up
Ben
Ahh I have a lot of favourite song lyrics! I love the lyrics from Viva La Vida - Coldplay, particularly these ones: I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringing. Roman cavalry choirs are singing. Be my mirror, my sword and shield, My missionaries in a foreign field. For some reason I can't explain, Once you'd gone there was never, Never an honest word, And that was when I ruled the world. Just love this song, something about the words I really like. Although there are plenty more songs out there that I love the lyrics to! Rawr
Slipknot - Danger, Keep Away We too feel alone, That place in my mind , Is that space that you call mine That place in my mind, Is that space that you call mine Where have I been all this time? Lost enslaved fatal decline I've been waiting for this to unfold, The pieces are only as good as the whole Severed myself from my whole life Cut out the only thing that was right What If I never saw you again? I'd die right next to you in the end That place in my mind, Is that space that you call mine That place in my mind, Is that space that you call mine I won't let you walk away, Without hearing what I have to say, Without hearing what I have to say, Without hearing what I have to say... paperplane
This isn't my most favorite but it's definitely near the top.. Angus and Julia Stone - Paper Aeroplane I spilled the ink across the page trying to spell your name So I fold it up and i flick it out Paper Aeroplane It wont fly the seven seas to you Cause It didnt leave my room But it awaits the hands of someone else The garbage man So he opens it up and reads it out to all his friends Amongst the crowd a heart will break and a heart will mend He walks on home tired from work The letter falls from his hand He reaches out only to catch the sky Its gone with the wind I spilled the ink across the land Trying to spell your name UP and down there it goes Paper Aeroplane It hasnt flown the seven seas to you But its on its way It goes through the hands Then to someone else To find you girl
Peacefield
I haven't heard this song in quite awhile and I was really cracking up in the car this morning when it came up on my iPod. It's pure fluff, but oh so fun . Stick Shifts & Safety Belts - Cake Stickshifts and safetybelts, Bucket seats have all got to go. When we're driving in the car, It makes my baby seem so far. I need you here with me, Not way over in a bucket seat. I need you to be here with me, Not way over in a bucket seat. But when we're driving in my Malibu, It's easy to get right next to you. I say, "Baby, scoot over, please." And then she's right there next to me. I need you here with me, Not way over in a bucket seat. I need you to be here with me, Not way over in a bucket seat. Well a lot of good cars are Japanese. But when we're driving far, I need my baby, I need my baby next to me. Well, stickshifts and safetybelts, Bucket seats have all got to go. When we're driving in the car, It makes my baby seem so far. I need you here with me, Not way over in a bucket seat. I need you to be here with me, Not way over in a bucket seat. Peacefield
Does anyone here listen to Owl City? I don't know much about them, but my friend burned me a CD of theirs over the weekend and I can't get enough Dental Care - Owl City I brush my teeth And look in the mirror And laugh out loud As I'm beaming from ear to ear I'd rather pick flowers Instead of fight And rather than flaunt my style I'd flash you a smile Of clean pearly whites I've been to the dentist A thousand times, so I know the drill I smooth my hair, sit back in the chair But somehow I still get the chills Have a seat He says pleasantly As he shakes my hand And practically laughs at me Open up nice and wide He says, peering in And with a smirk he says, "Don't have a fit, this'll just pinch a bit" As he tries not to grin When hygienists leave on long vacations That's when dentists scream and lose their patience Talking only brings the toothaches on Because I say the stupidest things So if my resolve goes south I'll swallow my pride with an aspirin And shut my mouth Golf and alcohol don't mix And that's why I don't drink and drive Because, good grief, I'd knock out my teeth And hafta kiss my smile goodbye I've been to the dentist A thousand times, so I know the drill I smooth my hair, sit back in the chair But somehow I still get the chills
Dimitra
Citizen Erase by MuseWash me away Clean your body of me Erase all the memories They will only bring us pain And I've seen, all I'll ever need I think that's the best part. Another song I absolutely adore in both terms of music and lyrics is The Sound Of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel Hello darkness, my old friend, Ive come to talk with you again, Because a vision softly creeping, Left its seeds while I was sleeping, And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence. In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone, neath the halo of a street lamp, I turned my collar to the cold and damp When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of A neon light That split the night And touched the sound of silence. And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more. People talking without speaking, People hearing without listening, People writing songs that voices never share And no one dared Disturb the sound of silence. Fools said i,you do not know Silence like a cancer grows. Hear my words that I might teach you, Take my arms that I might reach you. But my words like silent raindrops fell, And echoed In the wells of silence And the people bowed and prayed To the neon God they made. And the sign flashed out its warning, In the words that it was forming. And the signs said, the words of the prophets Are written on the subway walls And tenement halls. And whispered in the sounds of silence.

My mam has a Fleetwood Mac CD (can't remember the name) and Stevie Nicks singing Songbird is absolutely brilliant. I just love the song though.. It was Chrissie McVie actually........um unless Stevie sang a later version of it, Chrissie sang it on Rumors, the original. poppyshake
Is there a more beautiful song than this .... I've heard it a thousand times and it still moves me to tears every time Vincent (Starry Starry Night) Lyrics Starry starry night, paint your palette blue and grey Look out on a summer's day with eyes that know the darkness in my soul Shadows on the hills, sketch the trees and the daffodils Catch the breeze and the winter chills, in colors on the snowy linen land Now I understand what you tried to say to me How you suffered for you sanity How you tried to set them free They would not listen they did not know how, perhaps they'll listen now Starry starry night, flaming flowers that brightly blaze Swirling clouds in violet haze reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue Colors changing hue, morning fields of amber grain Weathered faces lined in pain are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand Chorus: For they could not love you, but still your love was true And when no hope was left in sight, on that starry starry night You took your life as lovers often do, But I could have told you, Vincent, This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you Starry, starry night, portraits hung in empty halls Frameless heads on nameless walls with eyes that watch the world and can't forget. Like the stranger that you've met, the ragged man in ragged clothes The silver thorn of bloody rose, lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow Now I think I know what you tried to say to me How you suffered for you sanity How you tried to set them free They would not listen they're not listening still Perhaps they never will.
