Lilywhite Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Does anyone here use the chart making software for cross stitch? I only ask because I have a design I want to make but can't manually convert it into a chart. I'm curious if anyone uses them and if they have any advice etc. Quote
Kell Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 I haven't got one at the moment, but I'm considering investing in one as I'd love to design my own charts. At the moment I'm restricted to doing so on graph paper which sets many limitations, as you can imagine! Quote
Lilywhite Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 I have the same problem Kell. I've been usin graph paper but I've hit upon a problem with one of my latest designs as it's all curves and not straight lines. I know you can stitch a curve, I just can't draw one! Quote
chesilbeach Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 I've done my first design for the bookmark stitch-a-long, but I just used a standard spreadsheet programme. To try to get the right shape to the letters, I typed the text in a font like the one I wanted and saved it as a small jpeg, then zoomed in on the image so it became pixelated, and it was easier to see how to create the right shapes using the stitches. Inver Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 My wee hoosie is taking shape in my bookmark stitch-along, thanks for suggesting it Kell. I promise to finish this one... Quote
Inver Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Half way there I think with my bookmark:D Quote
Kell Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 I'll be able to start my bookmark tomorrow night as the biscornu I'm making will be finished after that. (I'll post a pic when it's done.) Quote
Kell Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I finished assembling my January Biscornu this morning while Xander had his morning nap. (front and back views) The text on the back reads "Kell January 2010" Quote

Kate Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Very pretty. Have you filled it with smellies or anything? Quote
Kell Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 It is lovely Kell. Where are you going to display it. I'm making one each month with the intention of using them as Xmas tree decorations. (see my blog for details - The Basket of Biscornu Challenge) Very pretty. Have you filled it with smellies or anything? No smellies in them this time as they're going on the Xmas tree at the end of the year. Quote

Inver Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Oh how annoying nightingale...could they not have told you that when you ordered it? Just google cross stitch bookmarks and find another. Quote
nightingale Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Just ordered another kit. It's of a sweet cuddly bear and i think i prefer this one to the original order . All's well that ends well . Quote

Kell Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I use Sew and So a lot - very good service with decent prices and an excellent range. Quote
nightingale Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 (edited) Thanks for that Kell, it's a very good site. My mum has recently got into doing latch hook rugs, so i'll order some things for her as a suprise . Edited January 13, 2010 by nightingale spelling Quote
Kell Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 They are lovely Kell, what a good idea Do you find them easy to make? They're easier to make than they look. You just attach the corner of one side to the centre of the other and stitch around almost all the way, then stuff them and finish stitching. THey're just whipp-stitched together. Quote
