Dangerous lake-effect storm paralyzes parts of New York state with more than 5 feet of snow (cnbc.com) 5 feet?! That is a very tricky amount to contend with in one hit. Quote

Madeleine Posted November 19, 2022 Author Posted November 19, 2022 Sounds amazing. Wouldn't want to be out in it though! Quote
muggle not Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 (edited) Parts of New York actually got 6 feet - 5 inches of snow. Now that is a lot. Parts of N.Y. dig out after potentially 'historic' snowfall (aol.com) Edited November 21, 2022 by muggle not Quote
Virginia Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 Anybody experiencing a cold spell yet? Has the cold set in yet? Our leaves are changing, FINALLY. It's getting cold at night and now I can pretend (at least in the evenings) that it's almost full-time sweater/boots weather! I'm concerned about this winter. Climate change has turned everything topsy-turvy and I feel it might be harsher here in the southern US. Quote
Madeleine Posted October 20, 2023 Author Posted October 20, 2023 So far it's been pretty mild here (SE England), a bit cooler but apparently mild for the time of year, but more in keeping with the season, very windy and wet too. Lots of rain overnight with more on the way. Not too cold at night yet either. The leaves are only just beginning to turn now. 1 Quote
poppy Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 Is anyone being affected by Storm Babet in the UK? Saw on the news there is very bad flooding in Scotland, with two deaths and warnings for Wales and England. Stay safe all our UK friends! 1 Quote

Sheffield had about 75mm of rain since Thursday night, more than falls in the whole of October generally. Absolutely torrential for 36 hours, stopped briefly now. Libraries, hospitals, etc , have leaking roofs and buckets everywhere to catch the rain. Quote

Madeleine Posted October 22, 2023 Author Posted October 22, 2023 Rained quite a bit yesterday morning, but we haven't had anything like in other parts of the country, thankfully. Meant to be quite nice today, sunny at the moment, but more rain coming next week, hopefully not as much as this week though. Quote
