Kylie Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Anna, I noticed The Stand on the bookshelf too. I was trying desperately to read the book titles but I don't remember being able to make out most of them. Quote
itsmeagain Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I got the name Willoughby from one of the books on the shelves. Quote
Calexa Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 It's Kind of a Funny Story - an adaptation of Ned Vizzini's novel of the same name. Sweet and funny. Zach Galifianakis was, well Zach, and as delightful as ever, and Keir Gilchrist was a newcomer to me, and a revelation. Quote
Karsa Orlong Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Planet of the Apes (1968). Still fab Quote
Athena Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 It's Kind of a Funny Story - an adaptation of Ned Vizzini's novel of the same name. Sweet and funny. Zach Galifianakis was, well Zach, and as delightful as ever, and Keir Gilchrist was a newcomer to me, and a revelation. I didn't know they made a film of it! If I like the book I might have to see if I can buy the film too . Quote
vodkafan Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Planet of the Apes (1968). Still fab And far better than the newer version! Quote
Weave Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Planet of the Apes (1968). Still fab I love the original 'Planet of the Apes' Quote
Weave Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 The last film I watched was 'Sinister' which I had seen before but I still found it creepy! Quote
vodkafan Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Was cold yesterday so the kids just wanted to hibernate and watch TV. We watched Rat Race, A Christmas Carol (Patrick Stewart version) and later on I watched Cowboys And Aliens . Quote
Kylie Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 And far better than the newer version! Shhh! Don't ever speak of that monstrosity again! I love the original 'Planet of the Apes' Me too. Quote
Karsa Orlong Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Tim Burton's version of Planet of the Apes is an embarrassment! The more recent Rise and Dawn are both brilliant, though Planning on re-watching Beneath the Planet of the Apes tonight Quote
vodkafan Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 (edited) The more recent Rise and Dawn are both brilliant, though I can't agree there I thought Dawn was total pants so didn't watch Rise.. I also have Beneath in my collection I might watch that tonight too! Edited December 11, 2014 by vodkafan Quote
vodkafan Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Watched Dragonslayer last night. The dragon Vermithrax was excellent although the special effects of him flying are starting to show their age. This remains a most unusual Disney film, a little bit too frightening for very young kids. Quote
Karsa Orlong Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I can't agree there I thought Dawn was total pants so didn't watch Rise.. One of many things we disagree on I watched Beneath the Planet of the Apes last night. Such a grim film. Quote
geordie9 Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 (edited) Excellent!! Edited December 14, 2014 by geordie9 Quote
Timstar Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Absolutely awful. Quote

Zach Galifianakis was, well Zach, and as delightful as ever, and Keir Gilchrist was a newcomer to me, and a revelation. I love Keir Gilchrist He's in the United States of Tara, which is an amazing show, I'd wholeheartedly recommend it! I haven't watched the movie yet, even though I'm dying to see it... But I'm going to read the book first. As for personal movie action of late... I'm sure I watched a movie last week! I just can't remember what it was I watched bits of Big yesterday, it was on telly. A classic Julie & Julia will be on TV tomorrow and I'm going to watch it again! Quote
Kylie Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Shhh! Don't ever speak of that monstrosity again! Tim Burton's version of Planet of the Apes is an embarrassment! Geez, in the very next post you spoke of the monstrosity again! I watched Carrie last night. I've seen part of it before but finally got to see all of it, including the famed pig's blood incident. Good, creepy movie (and I had no idea John Travolta was in it!) Quote
Anna Begins Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I watched Carrie last night. I've seen part of it before but finally got to see all of it, including the famed pig's blood incident. Good, creepy movie (and I had no idea John Travolta was in it!) Dunno if you are into audiobooks or not, but Sissy Spacek narrates and it is awesome. It's short too. Quote
vodkafan Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 (edited) Zathura . The kids really engage with this film. I like the dialogue between the kids in the film and I actually prefer this to Jumanji Edited December 15, 2014 by vodkafan Quote
frankie Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 I watched The Family Man last night, I liked it a lot I'd seen clips of it some years ago and I had no idea what it was about, not knowing how it all started, so I've been wanting to get a chance to watch it for ages, and yesterday it was on TV. Quote
Kylie Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Dunno if you are into audiobooks or not, but Sissy Spacek narrates and it is awesome. It's short too. Cool! I didn't know that. I'm not usually into audiobooks, but it might be worth it to hear Spacek reading it. Thanks for the info. Quote
