Your carrots look good ! They never turn out very well here either. They say you need sandy soil, and ours isn't sandy, it's just plain old dirt .

Carrots used to be my favorite snack when I was a kid .  :)   I need to start eating more of them and less cookies .

That'd be neat to have fruit tress in your yard too .

Those carrots are very well behaved :D. Mine always are puny, and never grow in one direction,

even when I try to sieve the soil/compost, to get rid of the stones. Lemons look really good too.

Oh they still do that for me, I had two grow around each other. It was like a puzzle piece that you could take apart and put together again. :giggle2:

Yeah we had to feed the soil here first, with sheeps poo and potting mix. We have clay soil here so its hard to dig as well.

I make a decent lemon chicken, and sometimes I eat raw carrot sticks with peanut butter or cream cheese. Yum!

Congrats on the chicken! Can I ask how you made it, is it chicken with a lemon sauce, or what do I imagine with 'lemon chicken' :blush2:. It sounds delicious anyway. I've never eaten raw carrot sticks with any toppings, I always have them on their own. It sounds like a good idea but I have to lose weight so will keep eating them on their own.

Thanks!

I just chuck some chicken in an oven bag, add some lemon slices and squeeze the juice in, finely chop some garllic, and a pinch of mixed herbs and add a spoonful of butter to make a sauce. Bake until cooked in the oven which roughly takes 15mins. Give the sauce a quick whisk in a jug and serve the lot with rice and veg. Oh and take out the lemon slices.

Little update.

Today my brother and his wife came over for an early christmas dinner as they are going away over christmas/new year. Well we made an Italian style feast with a couple of other favourites.

They gave me a box of books that I can open on christmas day. Super excited now and can't wait to see what titles they are. My sister in law also gave me a bag of photography magazines, which are costly and a luxury for me, so to be given a years worth is just amazing.

Wow Devi

It sounds as though you had a wonderful day. So nice of them to come have an early Christmas dinner  with you. What type foods did you guys have since it was Italian items ? Any tasty desserts ?

And NOW you will have a nice surprise box to open at Christmas . That will be fun for you .

I'm doing ok, thanks for asking .

Well we had the works, roast turkey with gravy and cranberry sauce on the side. Antipasto dish with prochutto, salami, ham, olives, grisinni, artichokes. Brie, Camembert and blue vein cheese. The odd one out was Yorkshire pudding, but its a favourite of ours so had to be included. What else... Oh we had a panettone baked with custard, and i made a chocolate cake for the couple who dislike dried fruit. Oh how could i forget the veggies, there were carrots, broccoli, sweet potato, roast potatoes and peas, and my sister in law made home made bread. Phew!

Great thing is we have food for the next few days, so little to no cooking for me! :D

Oh god, this sounds GORGEOUS! :D Just to clarify: did you have the Yorkshire pudding (one of my favourites) with the turkey or with the antipasto? :giggle2:

I have to wait another 9 days for mine . . . unless you fancy sending some of your leftovers my way?? :D

It sounds as though you had quite the feast. That's a nice thing about those big dinners, too. Lots of leftovers so not much cooking for the next few days .

With the turkey and gravy. We ate the lot! :giggle2:

We had the grisinni sticks and home made bread with the antipasto... Such a weird name.
