  1. Thanks. I`ve been meaning to try it for a while, then the price drop jumped out at me.
  2. Enjoy your new book ! Trudi Canavan`s an author I keep thinking about trying. Is there a particular book you`d recommend ?
  3. Lovely and sunny today - around 24C - I had a nice snooze on the sun lounger around 6pm with my cat, watching next door' s doves flutter about.
  4. Still, the Higher-Ups were pushing you to put your application in, so they do seem happy with you ?
  5. That looks amazing.
  6. Best of luck with your classes.
  7. Well, that stinks. Glad that there was a rainbow at the end of it !
  8. Well, it isd making tyypink veery diffikultt, but ookay.
  9. Huge Kitty at Battersea.
  10. Shall keep my fingers crossed for the next two days !
  11. Books read : 108 TBR 834 New Books Bought : 115 Total Cost : £388.25
  12. Well, my alarm clock stopped working ( the alarm hadn`t worked for ages, and then I had to add 5 hours to get the correct time.. ) so I`m buying a new one from Amazon - and of course, I had to buy some books so that I`d spent enough to get free p&p. Books : Death and the Olive Grove - Marco Vichi ( £2.81 ) - I read the first in the series and really liked it. The Girl on the Train - Paula Hawkins ( £3.85 for a new hardback atm ! ) Notorious Nineteen - Janet Evanovich ( £2.80 ) And this is the alarm clock .
  13. Ooh, good one. I`ve picked The Big Sleep - Raymond Chandler. Whenever I`m feeling a bit low, I pick the book up and read the first couple of paragraphs, and it cheers me up a bit. " It was about eleven o`clock in the morning, mid October, with the sun not shining and a lot of hard wet rain in the clearness of the foothills."
  14. Noll, we`re all rooting for you !
  15. Torrey Chanslor . She wrote two books in the 1930's-ish, entitled Our First Murder, Our Second Murder ; in them, two spinster aunts inherit a New York detective agency and hilarity ensues. The books are just delightful, but she felt that she should spend her time illustrating children's' books, cos that would encourage a new generation of readers, so gave up her writing career. Sniff.
  16. Hmm, probably the next Dan Brown book for me, and Martin Cruz Smith's next Arkady Renko book ( I'm assuming he'll write another one...)
  17. - butts into conversation - Noll, a few years ago I took up Healing, Tai Chi and reflexology, and went through a lot of changes; I felt like I could see who I'd been and who I was becoming at the same time and it was a bit scary. Anyway, I talked to a friend about it, and she pointed out that I would change through experiences and through anyone I was in contact with too, not just through stuff I was doing to help myself - and that helped me with the feeling that I was going through this whole evolution thingy. I don't know if that's a similar thing for you or if it's at all helpful, but I thought I'd butt in. Good luck with the interview ; maybe if you feel flustered, you could say that you do really well on paper rather than verbally ? Erm, unless your job involves a lot of verbal interaction.
  18. Murdoch Mysteries. It`s been on for years, but I`ve just got into it; it`s like CSI Toronto set around 1900.
  19. Ooh, what did you get ?
  20. Thanks. There was a lot that I liked about the Karen Joy Fowler book, but once I finished it, I felt a bit unsatisfied. I had trouble keeping the characters clear in my mind - although there are only 5 women and one man. I have the film on tape, and I`m looking forward to seeing it. Thanks ! I hope you enjoy Ghostly Paws when you get to it.
  21. That`s cute !
  22. Still, they`re on an actual shelf, rather than a book pile on the floor (like lots of mine ), so that`s progress ?
  23. Yes ! I downloaded that ( I previously had Ghostly Paws on its own, also for free ). Then I downloaded a paid-for-book, `cos I felt I should be a bit supportive of a writer. Plus, her new book looks like something I`d enjoy.
