  1. I`m slowing reading my through her 2nd book, Spark Joy oslt. Slowly does it, so I don`t get scared.... Well done on tackling everything.
  2. Virginia, that's awful. It would be scary enough without the insurance nonsense ! : I hope your family get some sort of apology and compensation ; since money was accepted by the insurance company, doesn't that form a legal contract ? Grrr.
  3. I`m up to S8 of an X-Files rewatch. I hope they bring back the show again for a few more eps, especally if they do a proper Lone Gunmen one next time. Murdoch Mysteries is my current obsession.
  4. Ooh, I`ll give those a go ; I was wondering which book of hers to try next. Edit - I`ve ordered it now !
  5. So, I read Banana Yoshimoto`s Kitchen / Moonlight Shadow, a couple of days ago. Both novellas were excellent and I'm now a convert. She deals with the big questions - love and death - and does it in a beautifully meditative style. The language is just glorious ! An excerpt from Kitchen : I saw myself reflected in the glass of the large terrace window while black gloom spread over the rain-hounded night panorama. I was tied by blood to no creature in this world. I could go anywhere, do anything. It was dizzying.
  6. Vast amounts of the news. It feels like the UK really is the 51st state , it's been all US election, all.the.time. and I've found it all quite fascinating. Murdoch Mysteries X Files

  9. I had a very small clear up after reading the book, and some minor clear ups since then. I got rid of a couple of pretty boxes - those perfume gift boxes you get - because I`d had them for ever and never used them to store anything... But when I came to throw them out, they actually both had perfume in them. And I`d been looking recently to buy myself some perfume, so yay.
  10. It wasn`t my favourite film ever, but I`d really like to see the 2nd film; I liked the interaction between the two leads. Did you watch The Killing S3 with Your Hottie in it ? I`ve Kimpled it, and like the look of it - plus, I can`t recall reading anything else by a Finnish author, so that`s a big plus.
  11. Congrats on your book haul and Book Fair visit. Off to look up that Rabbit Back book.
  12. Oh, I saw the film recently ! Not bad, and certainly more nail-biting as it went on. There are 2 more films after it, too.
