The New House - Lettice Cooper. I bought it for 20p, second hand, to complete one of those ` buy 5 books for £1`. It was falling to bits, and one of those `meh, why not` purchases.. and I ended up getting new versions to give as presents. A 1946 classic.

Probably The Penguin Pool Murder - Stuart Palmer. I got it `cos I enjoyed the film, and it set me off on a 1940`s mystery kick.
