  1. Such a great book, I have The Angel's Game on my TBR shelves which I'm not sure about as it doesn't get such good reviews. I finished The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey this evening, it was alright but I think I'm just a bit bored of the YA end of the world/dystopian type books now. It's my youngest's turn to pull something from the Book Box, better wait till morning I suppose...
  2. I tried with Maddie, and they were awful (only my opinion of course!) They had none of the original charm and we didn't even finish the first book. This may interest anyone in the Canterbury area... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-31123521
  3. No need to send it back, I wasn't so taken with 'Storm' so will try another of hers when the time comes. I've not joined the Goodreads book club as I really don't want to have to get any more books at present.. I suppose I could join and hope one I have comes up!
  4. I'm so glad you enjoyed 'Secrets' Diane, how many of hers have you read now? I still have more to read but I'm DC'd out at the mo and need a change so I've not even put the titles in my Book Box. I may add a couple later in a few months. What books are next on your reading pile?
  5. That's the way!
  6. You're off to a great start Claire, I can't imagine being able to read that many books a month.. I think I managed 5, and thought I was doing well! I keep hearing wonderful reviews of The Dynamite Room so I'm hoping my Book Box will release that one sooner rather than later! Kay, if you are doing the book challenge on Goodreads you can see the total amount of pages you have read this year, and in previous years.
  7. I have it as a main course option so there is more to love but they do have it as a starter.. Friends have enjoyed the regular and naked burgers and I and a friend did very much enjoy the Sea Bass.. I've not tried the puddings so you'll have to enjoy one for me! I've had a halloumi starter which was divine too!!
  8. I love it there and normally persuade friends, family to meet me there for regular lunches!!! They sell marmalade too...
  9. That would be it! I'm never quite sure what it is made off and I'd probably best never check or I might decide never to eat it again! Whenever I go to Bills (do you have one of those where you are?) I ALWAYS have the bacon and avocado salad, loads of avocado and so so tasty!!
  10. Emoticons culled... I agree, small snacks before walks, if I don't do that I pig on all the convenient bad stuff when I get in regardless of how soon dinner will be ready!! Steve bought me some ice thingies for my boots but haven't used them yet as we had such a mild winter last year and nothing to speak of yet this year.. I think he got them from a garden centre... Nuts and seeds mixed in a big spoonful of natural yogurt is very filling too, and with some coconut I can almost convince myself it is a sweet treat! Good breakfasts are definitely key for me and I'll quite often have bacon, tomato and spinach fried in coconut oil (more good fats!) with poached eggs, you could grill them obviously if you prefer.. well maybe not the spinach.. not sure what would heppen with that! I put desicated coconut in everything! Homemade granola, seed bars, smoothies, yogurt and even the occasional cheaeky ice cream! The smoothie will be fine in the fridge thought will become thinner as you used ice, may need a stir if the ingredients separate, you could mix in the cocnut then if you wanted to give it a try? Maybe your hubby and my kids could have dinner together and we can share leftovers... bloody fussy kids! Gadget girl has a gadget for avocadoes too! http://www.lakeland.co.uk/16511/OXO-Good-Grips-3-in-1-Avocado-Tool .. I don't actually use it that much but it does work and makes it look nice if you are preparing for others.. I just hack at it till it's all out! So, what did you have? Avocado??????? They are a love it or loathe it food I think.. my eldest will only eat them with copious amounts of prawns and that pink sauce .. I can't remmeber the name and am too lazy to look it up. It'll come to me....... No it hasn't! Sounds like you eat lots of good stuff, you can manage without avocados, I keep meaning to try avocado oil but want to source a good one.. Oh, for a good deli nearby!!
  11. That looks lovely Kylie, a bit of rum would have made it even nicer! The desicated coconut would have been fine, I use it in smoothies all the time, as well as flavour it thickens it up a little too. Regarding the pineapple, I agree they are a pain, I have one of these.. http://www.lakeland.co.uk/15871/Pineapple-Slicer-and-Wedger, you may be able to get one over there. I don't actually eat pineapple any more as too high sugar for paleo but I do occasionally treat myself!
  12. Come on mojo, return yourself to normal quickly! Maybe Lola has run away with it and hidden it in the cat basket?! Hope The Ice Twins is the book to bring it back..
  13. Remember, not all fats are the same. Avocado is very fatty but they are good anti-inflammatory fats with lots and lots of goodness.. Take a look here. http://paleoleap.com/eat-avocados/
  14. Wow, what a lovely lovely jar you have, I'm sure you will love Rebecca.. Enjoy!
  15. I'm a quarter of the way into The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey, it's ok, but something significant needs to happen to keep me going for the other three quarters..
  16. Same problems as me, I'm terrible for snacking whilst cooking dinner! I now have Tupperware pots in the kitchen with different nuts and seeds in so am getting a bit better at eating those.. I also chop up peppers and bits and keep in the fridge next to the houmous. At least we have the dogs to walk so we can keep fitter that way!
  17. Mmmm avocado, my favourite, I eat loads of the stuff and sooooo good for you.. Keep meaning to try avocado oil for my salads. Good luck BB, we are all behind you! What is your downfall? And what are your favourite healthy foods?
  18. Just read your review.. Think I'll give it a miss for now..
  19. Ah, I read it as 'not as much as THotS)!

They'll be scones next week! She's making Bakewell Tart at school.. Will have to make a carbs/sugar exception for that!

  21. Both boys footie matches (playing and refereeing) due to a very light covering of snow and frost.. What to do now?!

  22. Hi Claire, and thank you!
  23. Great review of A Farewell to Arms, this has been on my wish list for some time but for whatever reason has not made it to my TBR shelf.. I think I need to do something about that soon.
  24. I thoroughly enjoyed it, I was given it as a gift and wasn't expecting to like it but it was good as quite different from anything I had read before. I hope you enjoy it too
  25. Yep, not long now frankie! Hopefully Steve will come to the training session on the 9th to take some video! Obi and Jojo get on really well, they don't play very often as Obi isn't much of a player but they do fine. Occasionally she will try it on and they'll have a bit of a disagreement, he puts up with a certain about and then just puts her firmly in her place! :D
