Oh man I forgot they made it into a TV show too! Well, those folks only seeing the movie and NOT reading the Twilight books are missing out.
-
Nowhere near pathetic, Bethany! I think that's the reason I read them too, and dittos about the YA fiction today. All I had was Sweet Valley High when I was young, ugh.

Should one pay attention to fanfiction?
Peacefield replied to Glowmay's topic in General Book Discussions
It's pretty much fans writing their version of what can happen with characters from a movie/book/tv show. It started back in the 60's or 70's I think and is really just an outlet for fans to write what they want. A lot of it out there is bad, but a lot of it is written really well and in the style of how the original author/screenwriter intended it to be. -

I do read it, but if I start with anything new it takes awhile to get to know the really good authors, because like Raven said, there's a lot of bad stuff out there. Some of the things I've been reading for years though because I found some really excellent writers who have been doing it forever and luckily, continue. Just beware I guess . -
I'm not sure what I'm having tonight, but it won't be anything complicated I'll tell you that right now! I'm in no mood to cook, so I bet it'll just be popcorn . Oh darn! I just realized I have asparagus in the fridge that I need to eat. Ugh. Hopefully it'll last until tomorrow.

Exactly, Kimmy. For me, the buildup was the best part! I liked the tension, know what I mean?!
-
Ditto, Kimmy! My biggest pet peeve by far.
-
Good question, Raven! I don't want to read it that badly, LOL. Unless I can get my hands on a used hardback, I'll wait for the PB or risk the library.

I liked the acting overall, although some aspects annoyed me. I think most of my unhappiness was more with some of the dialogue and the less-than-stellar efx, but that's me. I can't really find any huge differences between how the characters acted in the book and how the actors were on screen. I agree with Bethany about actors finding their chemistry a little ways in, so hopefully that's something we have to look forward to and the movies only getting better from here on out.

I'm looking forward to it too! I was wondering when he'd get around to writing something new...

Jasper!!

I didn't even notice that, Roxi, freaky! I think you and I must be on the same wave length sometimes!

Dittos on all the comments about Kiedis and his lyrical ability. He is one amazing poet! I dug out some of my old Cake CDs over the weekend and I forgot how much I love their lyrics - they make me laugh out loud! Here's my fave: Short Skirt, Long Jacket I want a girl with a mind like a diamond I want a girl who know's what's best I want a girl with shoes that cut And eyes that burn like cigarettes I want a girl with the right allocation Who's fast, and thorough, and sharp as a tack She's playing with her jewelry, she's putting up her hair She's touring the facility and picking up slack I want a girl with a short skirt, And a long jacket I want a girl who gets up early I want a girl who stays up late I want a girl with uninterrupted prosperity Who uses a machetti to cut through red tape With fingernails that shine like justice And a voice that is dark like tinted glass She is fast, thorough, and sharp as a tack She's touring the facility and picking up slack I want a girl with a short skirt, And a long, long jacket Nana nana nana... I want a girl with a smooth liquidation I want a girl with good dividends At citi bank we will meet accidentally We'll start to talk when she borrows my pen She wants a car with a cup holder arm rest She wants a car that will get her there She's changing her name from Kiddy to Karen She's trading her MG for a white Chrysler Le Barron I want a girl with a short skirt, And a long jacket Nana nana nana...

Oh my... This old roomie's story sounds pretty fishy to me, and yes, just a way to make money off SM. She would have sounded a lot more credible had she come forward right after Twilight's publication. They'll probably end up settling with SM having to pay out lots of money, but it's too bad she can't go to court and humiliate this old roomie of hers if in fact what she's saying is false. If a settlement makes it all go quicker though and the release date of the movie to stay the same, I'm all for that!

Finished BD last night! ::cheering:: ::sobbing:: Ugh.

I had no idea the Darkness broke up! Every once in awhile I hear 'Take Your Hands Off My Woman' on my iPod and I laugh out loud every time... That's the only song by them I know.

Wow, this takes me back! Not sure I can recall all so I may have to revise later. I remember really liking most everything we had to read, and only loathing Madding Crowd for some reason, although I can't tell you why, LOL. The Scarlet Letter Far from the Madding Crowd Metamorphasis 1984 Animal Farm A Tale of Two Cities Of Mice and Men Ordinary People To Kill a Mockingbird Catcher in the Rye Romeo & Juliet Macbeth Much Ado About Nothing Little Women One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Huckleberry Finn

Well, it's 200+ pages but only about 12 chapters I think. They barely get to know each other in that little amount of paper!! She doesn't even get to the first kiss part. Annoying.
-
Yeah, you can read Midnight Sun at her website, but beware, you can't print it out. She's such a tease!!

Love Bill Bryson, Maggie! I've only read his Lost Continent book but I laughed all the way through. I definitely need to check out the rest.
-
Hello and welcome, Maggie!! Sounds like you'll fit in just fine here
-
What do you mean you got nothing?? Pffttt, silly! You are very talented, Roxi . Eclipse and Breaking Dawn aren't out in pb here yet, and I think it's going to be awhile. It just annoys me because I like things looking symmetrical on my bookshelf, LOL.

So are you saying he gets all his genius and immaculate taste from you?! Is he planning on reading the books now or is he just going to leave Meyer in the dust?
