  1. Hello and welcome, Chris! Glad you joined up and hope you like being a part of BCF .
  2. Hey there and welcome to BCF, Anika! Hope you like it here with us . I'm a big Pre-Raphaelite and Waterhouse fan as well. I have a gigantic print hanging above my sofa of the avvie you have on your profile page .
  3. LOL sorry about that, Frankie! I just looked at what I posted and it does sound funky . Apparently it comes out on DVD here on 22 December, so I will have to rent it. I'm annoyed to find out that The Boat That Rocked is finally coming out here in the US but not until 13 November and under the title Pirate Radio. What is with the title change? And this movie was out in the UK back in April and we don't get it until now? I really don't understand movie distribution sometimes . Anyway, I'm really looking forward to it since Phillip Seymour Hoffman is one of my favorite actors.
  4. The rest of my lunch that I took home from the restaurant today, which was a chicken, artichoke and swiss sandwich. Oh and a few soggy fries, but I they were still tasty.
  5. Finished Stolen this morning and started The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown tonight.
  6. This was supposed to be a good film, Frankie. I kept meaning to see it but never did. It looked like it could have some good music in it too . I keep seeing a trailer on TV for this movie called The Box. It looks intriguing to me and I'll have to check who the director is before I decide to see it. Cameron Diaz is in it (not my fave), but the concept of someone in the world dying if you open a box that has a million dollars in it seemed interesting to me.
  7. Sorry I'm a little late with this, but excellent review of 'Lost Book of Salem,' Lexie! I'm SO glad you liked this one . I loved it too and can't wait for more of you to read it. I also am looking forward to getting 'The Heretic's Daughter' too. It's all such an interesting time period of US history.
  8. Wtg Echo! Yep it was Breakfast Club . Your turn!
  9. Awww I forgot about Slimey! I can still see him inching along the top of Oscar's trash can. I really remember the people in the show like Gordon, Susan, Luis and sweet old Mr. Hooper. There was a deaf woman as well but her name escapes me at the moment.
  10. An excellent reward, Stephanie! I'll be seeing it at midnight on the 20th, and I won't lie and say I'm not considering seeing it in the afternoon too! I read a horrible review of 'The Men Who Stare at Goats' in Entertainment Weekly today and the critic gave it an F, which is really surprising to me. Owen Gleiberman, if you're reading this post, lighten up and learn to be a better critic! I'm still going to see the movie .
  11. Grilled up some balsamic chicken tonight to have on top of some yummy greens with other various vegies .
  12. I read quite a bit this afternoon and now only have about 60 pages left of Stolen. Hopefully I'll finish it tonight and can start on the Dan Brown tomorrow .
  13. Welcome to BCF, Grace! Glad you joined us.
  14. Hello and welcome to BCF, Kate! Hope you like it here .
  15. The Historian is excellent, Catwoman, and I hope you enjoy it. Kostova has a new one out in January called The Swan Thieves which looks just as promising. I managed to read a few pages of Stolen last night in bed before crashing into sleep. I hope to finish it this weekend so I can start on the Dan Brown.
  16. Woo! Thanks Here goes: "I just wanna know how one becomes a janitor because Andrew here is very interested in pursuing a career in the custodial arts."
  17. Ooooh I think I know that one! Is it from 'The Birds?'
  18. I'm waiting for this one to come to town as well, Fi, it looks hilarious!
  19. Excellent, Charm! I like what I've seen of Paige so far in Stolen, so I'm happy to see she comes back in the next book. Thanks for reminding me of what the next title is too! I believe I may have to look for it this weekend . Glad to hear your mojo made an appearance . How are you finding 'Odd Thomas?'
  20. Loved this one, Busy! Excellent book IMO . Ditto to what Charm said, Catwoman. I hate leaving something too, but maybe it'd be for the best? Still loving Stolen! Now I have The Lost Symbol over there on my shelf calling to me and am really anxious to start it. Think I can handle reading 2 books at once?!
  21. Awww Bert & Ernie are so cute! Did they play Sesame Street way back when for you guys in the UK? Forgive me if that's a silly question . I watched it so much in the 70's all those guys seem like part of the family growing up, LOL.
  22. Vreeland is excellent, Mexicola, and writes historical fiction featuring artists, which is exactly what I love! The one I mentioned features a Vermeer painting and is neat because it moves backwards in time. I can also recommend 'The Passion of Artemisia' and a book of short stories called 'Life Studies.' She also wrote 'Luncheon of the Boating Party' which I think has been reviewed on BCF. I have it but haven't read it yet. Oh! And she also wrote 'The Forest Lover' which I have yet to own or read.
  23. Since I was up way too early this morning and not able to sleep, I read a bit of Stolen. I think I'm almost to page 200 so about halfway there I think. It's got me anxious though and I want to know what Clay and Jeremy are up to while Elena's in the spot she's in!
  24. Glad to hear another person likes 'An Education,' Scottishbookworm! It's at one theatre right now here in town and opens wider next weekend so I shall have to see it .
