  1. Sounds yummy, Fi! I grilled up some balsamic chicken tonight to have with a bit of asparagus. The leftover chicken will add nicely to my salads this week at work .
  2. Oh no, Lexie! I was looking forward to renting this, too. What didn't you like about it, can I ask?
  3. How was it, Mac? It's not normally my type of movie, but the chance to swoon over John Cusack is always tempting... I saw District 9 at the cheap theatre this afternoon. Second time I've seen it and loved it even more!
  4. I knew it! No wonder you're so brilliant!
  5. Sadly I am only on page 133 of The Lost Symbol! This weekend has flown by in record speed and when I got home from my shopping outing today I saw it sitting there but I picked up New Moon instead since I want to read it quick before Friday. Sorry, Dan, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!
  6. Is it odd that the author of this article didn't give a few words on how these books were chosen as the best of the decade? I mean, was it based purely on literary talent or money-making ability or ? I can see why some would be questioning the choices on the list, but I'm wondering why the Times even bothered to put this together since reading is so subjective. I've only read a handful on the list, but if these choices were based purely on writing ability, I'm not sure a lot of them should be there.
  7. Oldman was excellent in it, Stephanie! Does he come back in any of the following films? I loved his character .
  8. Just got home from a friends where we watched Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkaban (sp?). She's seen all of them but I'm making my way through for the first time. I liked this one a lot and am looking forward to number 4 .
  9. Honestly Chrissy I'm not really big on reading critics and their reviews so I don't know if this guy's thoughts and mine normally match. Every once in awhile I find myself reading them when I know it's a film I want to see, which is probably the wrong time to read them! I'm glad you've heard good things though, and really, how can you go wrong with that cast?
  10. Okay, now I'm discouraged. I was sitting in the car dealership yesterday and saw a review of Pirate Radio (aka The Boat That Rocked) in the newspaper. The reviewer gave it 1.5 our of 4 stars! He basically said that seeing Pirate Radio is a combination of all the boring parts of Almost Famous and the lamest bits of Animal House. Oh, and would only be worthwhile if you punched yourself in the face before you walked into the theatre. I laughed out loud at that last comment and the other people looked at me funny, LOL. Seriously though, I think some of you guys have seen it, right? Did you honestly think it was this bad?
  11. I have had one of the busiest weeks ever so my reading was definitely sub-par. I did manage a page or two this morning whilst waiting for the coffee maker though . Hopefully I'll get at least halfway this weekend, which is my goal. Dimitra, I hope you like the Salinger! It has always been one of my favorites and I hope everyone can one day read it . True greatness lies in that one, at least in my eyes.
  12. You sound a lot like my bro, Mac. He started losing his hair in his late twenties and has shaved his head ever since. He also leads my nephew's scout troop and lives for camping, hiking and all things out-of-doors .
  13. Glad you enjoyed your Twi-viewing, Catwoman! Hope you get to see the next movie at some point . After I got home from dinner I watched more of the extras from the 'Killers Live at Royal Albert Hall' DVD I bought myself the other day. I'm quite sure now that I can never get enough of watching Brandon Flowers .
  14. If this new one is 'old school' King then I will seriously consider investing!

    Hey

Hey there and welcome to BCF, Tel! Glad you joined us and hope you like it here
  16. Noll likes sparkly things . Hmmm, an update on me... 1. I'll be celebrating my 10 year anniversary at my job next month (I know, very exciting ). 2. I grew up and lived above my parent's music store, which I also worked in, until I was 20. 3. I have received 2 speeding tickets, both in the last year . 4. Sometimes I have problems acting my age . 5. I am still a coffee fiend.
  17. I read The Bone Garden this year AnniLoo and loved it. I too really liked the going back and forth between time periods and found the subject matter very interesting .
  18. I finished Stolen by Kelley Armstrong over the weekend, and am sorry I'm just now able to collect my thoughts and post them . Below is a short synopsis: On a mission for her own elite pack, female werewolf Elena Michaels is lured into the net of a ruthless Internet billionaire who kidnaps "other races" with supernatural powers, releases them in the Maine woods, and hunts them to the death in a real-world video game. Once again, I had such a good time reading this one! There's never a dull moment with Armstrong's books, and I loved being introduced to more characters this time round. I have to admit part me did miss seeing Nick and Antonio (fellow wolves from the first book), but new characters like Savannah and Xavier made up for it. I also really liked Paige and Adam's interaction with eachother, though I love what strong character Elena has, and did I say before that I can't get enough of Clay?! I'm looking forward to reading more about Paige and I hope that Adam sticks around. I can't wait to read the next installment!
  19. Way to go, Charm!! Good for you . I'm SO glad you are enjoying Salem, too. I know I probably sound like a broken record because I ask everyone this, but have you met Sam and do you like him?? I got about 50 pages read of The Lost Symbol when I got home from work earlier and hopefully I'll get more in before I fall asleep for the night. Pretty exciting stuff so far!
  20. Definitely, Stephanie! I know you would like them .
  21. Oooh I hope you like it, Nicola! I just finished the second book in the series, 'Stolen,' and am itching to get to the next one. I haven't had any book activity yet today but it's still early, so hopefully I'll get to squeeze in some of The Lost Symbol before bed tonight.
  22. Wonderful, Mexicola! I really hope you like it .

    Hello

Hey there and welcome to BCF, Ed! What genres do you enjoy reading?
  24. Excellent to hear, BookJumper! Can't wait to see this one .
  25. I didn't get too very far in The Lost Symbol yesterday, but managed to get to about pg 60 or so. Dan and Kate, I'll let you know how I find it. So far it's his signature plot, but I don't mind it so much because I find the subject matter interesting. Hopefully one day though Mr. Brown will branch out and write about something completely different! LOL
