Muesli
Foccaccia (you can eat it without any toppings)
Noodles
Fried vegetables
Mixed spices
With a few variations, that's what is in most of my meals over the day.
I'm sorry about your brother, Steve.
I know about authors like Stephen King, who wrote under a pseudonym to find out if their books would be popular without their wellknown name. It didn't work out though, otherwise I wouldn't know it.
Wow, Mashunja, you are a very fast reader.
I wish you good luck, Star. I don't like knowing the plot in advance and to me that certainly doesn't belong into a newspaper. Nor on TV, where it is even harder to ignore.
I know two groupes of older people:
Those who consider becoming older as becoming more experienced.
And those who tell you they can't learn or memorize anymore because of their age.
And I certainly want to join the first group sometimes!
I don't mean distance literally, Steve. Just look at the kids. They keep mostly among their own age, because the younger ones are uncool and the older ones unreachable. And when they become some 20 years old they realise, that it doesn't matter anymore.
That's at least how it was to me. Suddenly those whom I considered "old" earlier become adults and I belonged to them.
And thus somehow I reached a state were age doesn't matter. And I didn't reach the age where I'm afraid of getting old yet.
It isn't the age itself that creates the distance but the experience in life. And to a child or a teenager every year makes a great difference.
But when you grow older it doesn't matter that much anymore.
I used to be like that and still am a bit.
And having to find a flat within 4 weeks is a problem, even if you have a job.
And all those nice philosophies and strategies are made to help you stop worrying about nothing. They don't say that there are no problems you really have to worry about. Sometimes there are.
But probably if you learn not to worry about nothing you also learn to cope better with those real problems.
Just like: If you always think you can't solve your minor problems your major ones will paralize you completely.
Because you will become negative in mind and loose your sel-assurance. Or don't built up one for that matter.
Provoking? Why?
I'm only getting 30 but that's how it feels to me, too.
The distance to the ones who are 40 or even 50 (like chatting to them...) feels less than to those who where 15 when I was 12.
No, personally I don't have such a strategie, at least not an outspoken one. I haven't been that good in solving any problems, but am getting better with growing life experience and a growing easiness with problems. Things I would have considered major brick walls a few years ago are merely rimstones now.
But that philosophy sounds good anyway.
Oh yes, it is!
What seems to be common to all martial arts is the effect it has to the psyche.
It definitly makes you a happier man, and, odd as it seems, less agressive.
I'd nearly made a stupid purchase today..
I saw an English psychology book with the funny title "Who am I and if so, how many?"
I nearly bought but saw the inscription "Translated by XY". Translated? From what language?
Than I saw it was originally German.
