  1. I've just finished The Secrets Between Us - what did anybody else think? Waiting for book #3 now
  2. Haha Ohhh I don't how I'd manage to read more. Since buying my Kindle I tend to have one ebook and one "real"book on the go but its suddenly turned into three this week! x
  3. Sorry, I didn't realise there was already a thread - I'll have a read of all the posts here - thanks!
  4. I'm really looking forward to the next few arriving. The first one is nice and a fun read but not exactly gripping !
  5. Hello, I thought I'd introduce myself although I have posted a couple of times on other threads already I hope this is OK! My name's Beth, I'm 24 and live in Liverpool. I'm an avid reader, will read anything and have recently purchased a Kindle so I seem to be reading even more now! I read absolutely everything although my favourite authors are Daphne du Maurier, Aravind Adiga, Charles Bukowski, Haruki Murakami and Sebastian Faulks. I look forward to chatting with likeminded folks and sharing my thoughts on everything and anything bookish! I'm currently reading: Teacher, Teacher - Jack Sheffield - part of the Transworld challenge Wolf Hall - Hilary Mantel - for my Twitter/Facebook bloggers book group (please ask if you want to join) and Pigeon English - Stephen Kelman - trying to read the Booker shortlist and make my own judgements So yes that's me xx
  6. My Cousin Rachel is one of my favourite books of all time and definitely up there with my top du Maurier reads! x
  7. I absolutely adore Irvine Welsh. My favourite is definitely Marabou Stork Nightmares and my second favourite a short story he did for the collection Speaking With The Angel edited by Nick Hornby. His story in this collection is absolutely brilliant. I prefer his short stories to his novels as a whole, especially the Ecstasy collection and think he writes fantastically. I know he isn't to everyone's taste but his style and subject matter definitely works for me. I can't think of anyone who writes in a similar manner, except perhaps Niall Griffiths.
  8. Hello, I'm a new member so I hope you don't mind me starting a thread. I've just started reading Wolf Hall as part of one of my reading groups and well, I'm really not getting it. I've heard great things and of course it won the Man Book Prize in 2009 but it's really not working for me? I'm only a couple of chapters in, does it get better?!
  9. I completely agree with you about Hathaway, of course I've yet to see the film and could be wrong but she just doesn't feel like Emma to me (from the trailers etc). It's a bit disappointing but it's very rare that a film of a book is a true representation anyway
  10. Oooh I've just joined this too, got my first book this week and hoping to finish it by tomorrow! The books I chose were: Teacher, Teacher! By Jack Sheffield The Secrets Between Us By Louise Douglas Death Sentence by Mikkel Birkegaard The Obscure Logic of the Heart by Priya Basil Has anyone read any of the others on my list? What do you think?
  11. Me too! I'm about half way through and it's really fun to read!
