  1. Thanks poppyshake...the current copy I have of Two Eggs On My Plate is actually the second one I have had in hardback; it seems to be not that hard to find
  2. Now that sounds interesting!!
  3. Thanks Frankie you too!
  4. Thanks Alexi! About the novel....er, next question
  5. The hamster wheel of unread books! Great description. Happy New Year poppyshake
  6. In one way, it was a typical Moffat flight of fancy very akin to his Dr Who specials
  7. Hello bookbug. What you term a meme should more properly be called a teme. (See link) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_meme You like to write ? What sort of stuff?
  8. Hi Anna Yes Crimson Petal was excellent. And Handmaid's Tale. I shall bump Oryx and Crake up a bit
  9. I was completely underwhelmed by all the oldies characters whenever they appeared. Their entrances didn't seem to carry any gravitas at all for me.
  10. Hi Kate. That sounds very interesting. Picking on just one mystery, why would his wife let him take the credit for books she is writing? Good luck with your reading this year!
  11. I thought the Dr Who special was OK. I do like the way Moffat likes to play around big style with time in his stories and is much freer with the concept.
  12. Oh I watched The Maze Runner too. I liked that and thought it much better than Divergent.
  13. I watched half hour of The Book Thief. I liked it so far but I wasn't in the mood to watch the sad events I knew were coming up so I will watch the rest maybe tonight. But the voice of Death grated on me as so totally wrong!!!
  14. Hi Claire, wasn't sure if you were open for replies yet. Good luck with your reading. I think it's interesting how your reading totals have increased over the years, although 2013 was amazing.
  15. I should definitely get the book in first, opinions differ but I enjoyed it and found it a refreshing spin on the original with quite a lot of delicious humour. I suspect the film looks to have dumped all that and has ended up just a violent horror film with 21st century women in corsets, explosions and a smattering of Regency expressions to fool the hard of thinking
  16. Hi Laura , huge congratulations on little Ethan. That's so strange that he was 14 months when he was born though most babies are very small when they come out
  17. Good reading Alex! Oh my gosh what a fearsome TBR. You did have rather a lot on in 2015, if I recall correctly....
  18. Hi Abbielle Rose, Good luck with your reading this year. I have read two from your TBR: Stardust (great) and Pride And Prejudice And Zombies (pretty good). I don't hold out much hope for the film of the latter though, after seeing the trailer....
  19. Hi Athena I wish for you good reading enjoyment for this year. I know what you mean about the meaningless of ratings. I have changed my mind radically about books I have read, and sometimes after only short periods of time, so is there any point rating at all, except the visceral reaction of like/don't like?
  20. The New Year special was entertaining. I enjoyed it.
  21. Happy New reading year Kylie! Oh Abnormal Multifaceted Protector of books, your TBR lists make me dizzy. I loved your little pictures though. And your list of new authors you must read. That's a great idea.
  22. Thanks Kylie I plan to be
  23. Thanks! All items I must bump up the list. Sofia- remember her?- she sent me Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children from USA, along with The Terror.
  24. Good Luck chaliepud. I don't think we share any books on our TBRs but this may change!
  25. Wow good luck bobblybear that combined kindle TBR is huge! Just picking out a couple from your shortlist, I very much enjoyed The Windup Girl and The immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, which was very poignant because true. I also have Woman On The Edge of Time, I must read that very soon!
