  1. Haha.. well honestly sometimes I care about that, sometimes I don't. This bookshelf is a temporary thing so to speak, since I currently still like with my mom, when I finish university, I'll get a place of my own (can't afford now ) and then I'll probably put everything in right order.. however now, I don't really care. I am not that OCD about my books etc.
  2. It's not scary, unless you're scared of and such. I was so disappointed with Paranormal Activity, not normal. I hoped to go in for a nice scary film.. not.
  3. For a Bruce Willis film, is wasn't bad. I enjoyed watching it, which is saying a lot, I didn't really expect to.. is more my brother's kind of film.
  4. Nope, never done that, then again I don't really have that many books. A little over a hundred I think, mainly due to limited funds, let call it that. I do have multiple copies of books, but that's when I originally buy a book in dutch, then decided later english is better and buy it in english. But nothing like having 6 copies of the same book.
  5. I have two bookshelfs, or one is a shelf, the other a little bookcase, the rest of my books are in storage boxes.. no space. Unfortunately I also have to put double rows on the shelf, again, not enough space.
  6. I know, but thing for me is, what I like in films and series, I don't always like in books. For instance I love sci-fi on tv, but in books, not so much. Am sure I will enjoy it when I read it at one point tho, but just can't really gt myself to do it though, not when I have so many other nifty books laying around waiting to be read.
  7. OH and I got some more.. Nero Bellum Andreas Bergh (Whiplasher Bernadotte) the Dro Brian Molko All musicians, from my fav bands, who definitely know how to have a good time. That would make for an interesting night.
  8. ^I had the same with Brave New World, seriously, I had to read it for high school english, and thought it was boring, so much that when I was tested on it I could barely remember the plot. Read it again recently, after many years of contemplating it.. and loved it.
  9. Neverwhere, by Neil Gaiman. I liked the TV series, but have tried reading the book, got it as a present.. and could just manage a little bit. Have been meaning to pick it up for ages already.. it's just.. I don't know. Just where you get the idea that you don't care to read it anymore. I will probably, because I was given it as a gift, but still.
  10. Well I never really compared the madness etc in SK's books with that of Lovecraft.. in SK's book there's some of people going mad by the things they see, but then again a lot of the people in his books deal with the evil they face.. whereas in Lovecraft's stories, people go mad, absolutely, totaly insane. They don't deal, they find themselves back sometimes, but they never really face evil and come out the hero. Or, you know, most of the time. I can't say I have read all stories yet ofcourse, and not even all I have in my books. But their minds are destroyed, they never come out clean so to speak. And in King's works, they manage to get over the madness (if it even is there), some even hide it away, flee from it like it never happened, but few are destroyed (ofcourse there are some, like the boy in It, can't recall his name, the one who's hair turned white.. (mind you, I am recalling the film most, has been too long since I read the book) but his mind is destroyed... ). Anyway, to me it never seemed the same.
  11. Wow, I would have never compared SK to H.P. Lovecraft. Guess if you say it like that, it sort of makes sense. I love both authors, but SK for me, is more the author I used to like best, my tastes have changed to the point where I think a lot of his books are boring. Ten years ago, I loved his work, pretty much all of it. Now, I barely read it anymore, not because I think it's bad.. but because now I love reading other authors, say, H.P. Lovecraft.
  12. Sure. I've read several books in one sitting. Give me a day off, a not too difficult book that I'm enjoying and that's not over say, 400 pages long. Then I might finish it in one sitting, if I don't have to do a lot else that day. I finished a lot of Laurell Hamilton's books that way, they're easy reading. Several Harry Potter books too, the last book took me two sittings, 8 hours, so could have been done in one actually, but I took some time to sleep. But yeah, am a fast reader so I can do this.. but these days I have too much other stuff on my hands, school, work, and a lot of helping mom out around the house and taking care of dogs etc, so I don't have that much time to read.
  13. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. When I put it down with the thought I will read it another time, I usually do, even if it takes years. Sometimes I find that I am just not in the right mood for a certain book and that I'd rather read another, then it's pointless to keep struggling through the first one. Maybe, second time around, I will finish it quickly.. so yes, then I do finish them another time. There are also books I don't finish.. but then usually when I quit reading, I know it's the end for that book.. Then it doesn't appeal to me, or it just doesn't read well.
  14. ^have that too, didn't like the first, haven't seen the second, and I used to watch the cartoons all the time when I was a kid. I watched Pet Sematary 2 yesterday.
  15. Well I used to be on a certain music forum.. for a not too well known Swedish industrial-ish band. The fans used to be okay, my age or just a little bit younger. Now they're more known, and you can tell by the newbies that join.. lots of teenagers, and early teenagers too, and their idea of a good discussion often is to discuss which band member is hotter. What do I care, I just love the music. :motz:Topics have become less serious and more random. So I went looking for another forum hee hee. This one's gooood.
  16. Well I'll give it a thought about what more books to recommend you, you seem to love the same books as I do, am a big fan of post-apocalyptic books (well anything really) too. Though I have never found a series about this unfortunately. Maybe if you involve some sci-fi, there might be something. Let me think. However, one book I can recommend, even though you say you don't want to read single books... is Stephen King's the Stand.. it's over 1000 pages long, so it's not like you'll read that in one day. I love this book, it's one of my favourites, and I have read it several times. The film, if you've seen it, gives a decent representation of what the book "feels" like, if you know what I mean, but the film's way more shorted, the book's just more detailed, elaborates more. It's about a plague (a sort of flu virus) killing most of the world's population, and the survivors being caught in a battle for good or evil, they have dreams about either Mother Abigail, this old black woman (good), or Randall Flagg, a modern incarnation of an ancient evil. They side with either of both, trekking though America to join either of both groups. It's a long, calm story, and I like the atmosphere in the book a lot, in a way it is Stephen King, yet also it is not. If you like (post-) apocalyptic fiction, I'd give this one a try.
  17. ^that comment makes that I am now sitting here with this huuuge grin on my face. Hee hee, shiny indeed. Must watch it again soon.
  18. Am from the Netherlands, and from the city of Nijmegen. Not a small city, not much to do here however.
  19. Turned 28 at the beginning of this month, and must I add, it's lovely to be on a forum where the majority is around my age or older than me. Makes for much better discussions too.
  20. ^Me too. I adored Firefly and was so sad it got cancelled.. and then the film. Yay.
  21. Just had some pizza, hawaii (ham and pine-apple) and some with spicy sausage and peppers. Yay for sunday unhealthy food.
  22. The third Mummy film's on telly now, something with the Dragon Emperor. I don't really care, cause this film I don't like, the first two are okay.
  23. Pet Sematary, actually the first time I really watched it, got scared of the sedond one when I was a kid, and neve bothered with the first one. It was not bad, kinda funny where it was supposed to be scary though, as with a lot of Stephen King films.
  24. Currently just one at the time, but usually two or something. I only pick up the second book if the first isn't going quick enough, I can't keep my head to it (say, when I am tired) or I have suddenly this strong urge to read another book. Usually then one of the two is a re-read.. I never get plots mixed up, have no trouble there. However, currently the book I am reading is keeping me happy, so no need to pick up another.
  25. I couldn't agree more.. I don't know all of why I hate reading books that are hypes, but I guess part of it is overexposure.. you see it everywhere, all the time, on tv, in stores, magazines, internet etc.. you get sick of it. Is like this great song you love until you hear it played every hour on the radio and can't stand it anymore soon enough. Partly too, is that I hate trends. I think it's a stupid idea. Like with clothing. Some goof somewhere decides that this and that is cool to wear this winter (f.e.), and before you know, it's all you can buy in the stores, and you see everyone everywhere wearing it. Like with those skinny jeans. I hate them. I love flared jeans, but they're hard to get hold of here, so I sorta make my own. I don't really do trends, unless I really really like it. Sometimes that happens. Like with the Harry Potter books. I had never heard of them till the first film came out, and I adored the film so before the next one came out I read all the books. So it's not that I absolutely resist trends, it's just that they usually don't appeal to me. And I am not saying I'll never read those hype books.. recently I tried reading the DaVinci Code. Didn't particularly like the film. But wondered what everyone was on about, so I picked up the book from the library. Pff, overhyped and boring very much. Couldn't finish it. So I don't say I'll never read Twilight (and actually I adore vampires for like.. more than 15 years now) even though they seem like kiddy vampire books (I like my vampires scarier and sexier).. I might one day.. but not anytime soon.
