  1. Happy Birthday, Abby! :balloons:

  2. Where the Wild Things Are, followed by The Devil and Daniel Johnston.
  3. This is my first proper read of a Dickens novel and although at times I've found it a bit hard going (I've been reading it since April on and off!) I've ultimately found it an enjoyable and rewarding read. Sure, there are other 19th century classics which I prefer, however, I think I'll have to try out a couple more Dickens works before I can begin to agree with you! Is Great Expectations one of the ones you've read? Thanks! I'm about to read some more now
  4. I'm aiming to finish Great Expectations before progressing with The Count of Monte Cristo. I'm onto the third volume and very much enjoying the story; last night I even had a dream about Pip!
  5. I adored the film (1995 version) when I was younger and am quite surprised that I missed out on reading the book! If I come across it, I'm definitely going to pick it up. Just thinking about a certain part of the film brings tears to my eyes! I'd like to read The Secret Garden too as that was another of my favourite childhood films. Great review, Kate
  6. I can't wait to see Ponyo I'm going to either buy or rent it very soon. (I loved Totoro too!)
  7. I just made an Amazon order and Vlad: The Last Confession by C.C. Humphreys managed to sneak its way into my basket Meanwhile, I'm still reading the Count of Monte Cristo and dipping in and out of Great Expectations when the mood takes me (or when I can't fit The Count in my bag!)
  8. I couldn't ask for better recommendations for the book, thanks guys! I've only read a few pages so far but due to an impromptu night in on my lonesome, I plan to get stuck in tonight I've not read Three Musketeers yet but I'm sure it'll work it's way onto my TBR pretty soon! Hope you're both well and enjoying your current reads
  9. Aw, thanks Kylie! That of course, in turn means that you do too I bought all those Dickens at a bootfair for the measley sum of I think

  12. Thanks, Pixie! And thank you, peace for pretty much settling it for me. Count it is!
  13. I'm thinking of starting either Dracula or The Count of Monte Cristo tonight. I'm undecided as to which one but excited either way
  14. Is there anything better?! I'll be having a ham sandwich in half an hour. And maybe some Quavers.
  15. I just finished Shutter Island And well, it was pretty damn good!
  16. I'm a big Chevalier fan and have to say that Burning Bright is certainly not my favourite of her work. It's a shame this was your introduction to Chevalier; if you do ever feel inclined to pick up another novel by her please make it The Lady and the Unicorn, I think it's brilliant (and I believe peacefield might just agree ) Good review though, I agree with most of your points
  17. I am I love getting to know all the 'characters' over the series and following their progress and antics
