  2. I'm glad you're enjoying it! It is pretty epic, what with the front line action too. It's an amazing story and like you say his writing style is excellent. I've also read The Girl at the Lion D'or and Charlotte Gray by Faulks, both of which I loved too (but not quite as much as Birdsong!). Have you read any others of his?

  16. Funnily enough peace, I was looking at that book in a shop just the other day! I wish I'd have bought it, it sounds just my kind of read but I wanted to check up on some reviews etc before purchasing! Will look out for it again now though A few times? I'm mightily impressed! I'll give my thoughts on The Count when I'm further into it
  17. I'm still reading it! I've mainly been reading at work and when I'm out and about so I've been getting through some lighter, bag-friendly reads I'm enjoying The Count, I just think it's going to take me a fair while to finish! Do you remember how long it took you to read?
  18. I'm watching too, Paige. It is so sad.
  19. I have now finished Great Expectations (which I loved) and started The Loving Spirit by Daphne Du Maurier.
  20. Both my parents would encourage me in my reading, and I was regularly treated to new books and spent many an afternoon in the children's section of the library. They would read to me too. My dad would choose the most dramatic of my books so that he could put on voices and unleash his previously unappreciated acting skills
