  1. Read about 70 more pages of Jamaica Inn. I'm enjoying it but not quite as much as I did My Cousin Rachel.
  2. Cold pasta with chicken, mayo, peppers and sweetcorn
  3. We have our tickets booked for Cemetry Junction on Wednesday evening. Have been looking forward to the film for a while now and really hope it doesn't disappoint!
  4. Nollaig's post especially must have had you confused
  5. My OH mentioned he'd be interesting in reading this Fortey book the other day, and now having read about it on here I think it's almost definitely being ordered from Amazon I like the sound of his others too, chesil.
  6. It's a shame I didn't get to finish it, if it's one of your faves - I'm almost bound to love it too Maybe I'll be brave and give it another go one day, just as long as I have a cushion at the ready I might be ok Then there's that scene in American History X involving someone's mouth and the curb that evokes a definite 'ouch!' from me.
  7. I am a 23 year old woman living at my Aunt and Uncle's ominous inn situated on the moors of Cornwall.
  8. There are a couple of scenes in Antichrist that are definitely not for the faint-hearted! They made me feel a bit peculiar. Secondly, the stabbing scenes in Zodiac are very realistic and although I'm not usually affected by violence in films, this upset me and I had to turn the film off. I've not heard anyone else mention these scenes though so maybe I was just overly sensitive that day! Who knows. I'm not prepared to give it another watch to find out though
  9. I saw the Sharon Osbourne and Chris Tarrant ones. Very funny! My Girl 2.
  10. I never skip right to the end of the book, only ever further down the page, usually to see whether what I think is going to happen actually does, as I can't bear the suspense any longer! I think the only time I've ever been tempted to skip to the very last paragraph of a book to see how it ends was when I was about three quarters of the way through The Historian. I didn't though - I got my OH to read it somehow thinking that would get rid of my suspense!
  11. I did, Kylie. I just wish I'd been prepared for how much blubbing I was going to do!
  12. Me too. First time viewing though!
  13. Yeah I do this when I sense something significant/surprising/exciting is going to happen or be revealed. Sometimes I have to cover the rest of the page but most of the time the urge is so strong I just immediately give in to it and glance down to see what happens
  14. Hi, Kate. It's great that you read George's Marvellous Medicine again! I have such fond memories of that book, along with all Dahl's other classic stories. I had a beautiful boxset of some of his work when I was a kid which included George's...; unfortunately I didn't keep it (and curse myself regularly for it!) but would love to give it another read sometime.
  15. I want that too! I think I've got a cheese and onion pasty and maybe some mash if I'm lucky.
  16. Oh I can't wait for that, Inver. I don't have the channel though so will have to wait for DVD! I'l be watching Masterchef tonight.
  17. Aw I really wanna see this again! A Serious Man.
  18. I started this book a couple of years ago but couldn't get into it. Will give it another go one day to see whether it was my lack of reading mojo at the time or the book itself that was the problem.
  19. no, Randy's trying to get cancer and Cartman is addicted to KFC.
