  1. In the book I am reading at the moment (Getting old is murder by Rita Lakin) there is one guy always telling bad jokes. Well, most of them I understand but not all. I thought, maybe you can help me? I think the problem is my english language capability, maybe there are other meanings to some words I don't know... So, here is one of the jokes I don't understand: Six old guys are sitting around the old folks hom, smoking stogies and drinking schnapps when Sexie Sadie comes by batting her eyelashes at them. She holds up her pocketbook and says, 'If you guess what's in the purse you get free sex tonight.' One old guy says, 'Ya gotta elephant in there?' She bats her eyes again. 'Close enough.'
  2. They just started showing season 2 in Germany. I am so happy to have Gossip Girl back. I really love it!
  3. They started showing Vampire Diaries in the german TV this year, so up to now I have watched the first 3 episodes. At first I was really disappointed, the first episode wasn't as good as I expected. So much fog and nothing really interestin gappening. But I must admit, it gets better with every episode (so far). To the team question: I have to admit, I prefer Damon. He is ... well.. cute and more interesting Tomorrow I will watch episode 4. Looking forward to it.
  4. Oh, another German member. Welcome to the forum!
  5. I read the book in december, and I am totally in love with it. It's a really special book and I enjoyed every page of it!
  6. OK no adventure and no crime, but I really like Eric Emmanuel Schmitt. I really like Oscar et la dame rose!
  7. Well, I don't really have fave parts, for that I have to watch it again But I think I will wait for the DVD. (And actually, I don't want to watch it in German again, I want to watch the original version!) But I mus say, I wasn't sure what to expect from the film. Book two is really sad and depressing, and, well, I so totally loved Edward in film 1. And well, Edwards part isn't big in New Moon so I didn't know what to expect. But I must say, Jacob was fantastic! (The only thing I didn't like about Jacob was his short hair.) The sad emotions, the whole atmosphere, the film is really like the book! I totally liked it!
  8. I watched it today and really liked it
  9. Me too, I don't know Die Geschichte Von Herrn Sommer. Actually, I tried to read Perfume once but didn't stand more than a few pages. Such a strange book, it wasn't anything for me. And afterwards I wouldn't try another book from this author.
  10. Rubinrot by Kerstin Gier. It isn't translated to english yet but there will be a translation next year. It's the first part of a trilogy for children. It's about time traveling and love and it is really wonderful, something special. And it has a wonderful cover! I am totally in love with Rubinrot an looking forward to part 2, it comes out in january
  11. Welcome! And have fun in London!

  15. SoKatrina, just try a cozy mysterie. There are so many different cozys, such a lot fantastic books! And they are so cozy and nice!
  16. I can't really decide. I love the typical british crimes like the ones written by Dorothy L. Sayers, Agatha Christie, Ann Granger. But I also love cozy mysteries and most of those are written by american authors. I am still wondering why. Why can't or won't authors from other countrys than america write cozy mysteries?
  17. Hi Anika, welcome to the forum. Yes, I have read some of her Lord Peter books and I really liked them. I will start another cozy book (after finishing the second booktown mysterie from Lorna Barrett this weekend) tomorrow, it will be Killer Hair from Ellen Byerrum, the first fashion mysterie from that author. I'm really looking forward to it. The only bad thing - there are no recipes in tzhis book. I totally love cozy mysteries with recipes. The choclate cookies from Joanne Flukes Hannah Swenson mysterie are really delicious
