  1. Working on Sarum. What a great read:)
  2. Okay here is a question. I just finished reading Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman. I read the book because I found the movie to be enchanting. After reading the book, I have to say, I liked the story better as a movie. Are there books that you read because you saw the movie only to find you liked the movie version better?
  3. I'm really enjoying Sarum! Put in one chapter already but I've set aside more time to read this evening.
  4. Finished Practical Magic, starting Sarum by Edward Rutherfurd. Getting ready to hunker down for this one!
  5. At least with a book, you can close it, not so easy with someone who TALKS like some authors WRITE!
  6. I actually started it last summer and put it aside but I am beginning it again (where I left off) this afternoon.
  7. I THINK I'm four different women who are running from there destinies as witches. There's a legacy that denies us true love and we have some really twitchy aunties that raised us and frown on anything looking like normalacy (brushing teeth, eating wholesome foods, bathing...) We started off in Boston and now I'm think I'm in New Jersey or New York. Safe to say that while I'm enjoying this book, I havent got a clue where I am or WHO I am:blush:
  8. He definately believes in writing tombs but I find myself getting entrenched in his story lines. He, IMHO, is a true historical fiction writer. Has anyone else read him? What do you think of his books?
  9. Thirtysomething. Came out on DVD earlier this month.

Lewis Finish LOTR's Return of the King by J.R.R. Tolkien The Lion of Ireland (?) The Boylen Inheritence The Other Boylen Sister Finish Julie & Julia The Creation Of Eve The Swan Thieves Only The River Runs Free The Mammoth Book of Historical Detectives The Known World In The Fall
  11. Still working on Alice Hoffmans Practical Magic, should be finished this evening.
  12. I havent read Maeve Binchy in years. My favorite of hers would be Circle Of Friends. I loved that book!
  13. I read 4 more chapters in Genesis and about three chapters in Practicle Magic. I'm tempted to pick up C.S. Lewis' Mere Christianity but its not definate.
  14. Peacefield, I would LOVE to go without the children but there's no telling when that will be. Dh and I went to Hawaii back in August and took the grandwobbler with us as his godparents wanted to see him. Interesting experience.
  15. Did 4 chapters of Genesis this morning and plan to read more! I'm also about 100 pages into Practical Magic. I've got LOTS of waiting time today so I'll get quit a bit of reading done.
  16. On page 100 of Practical Magic. Really good read!
  17. Too many kids, too much of a hassle and I HATE airports because we travel with kids!
  18. Picked up Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman. Watched the movie with Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman and decided I HAD to read it!
  19. Did a detour with my TBR so I'm now reading The Bible (Genesis) and I'm also hoping to finish up a book I put aside a while ago, The Midwife Of The Blue Ridge. I'm more than half way through it. As for the Bible, I want to read it cover to cover.
  20. Come to think of it, so are chastity belts!!!! Dont think I want to go with THAT particular medievil look either:lol:
  21. I think apart of me is just plain lazy:mrgreen:. While I LOVE the idea of traveling, it has become such a headache that I often find myself forgetting the trip because of the travel. I use to dream of traveling outside the states but now I'm finding that its as much fun to travel at home. We can drive and take our time WHEN we decide to go. I would love to explore more of the U.S. but I'm okay with just traveling up and down the coast and exploring our natural landmarks and historical sites. I seem to rather READ books located abroad but I want to TRAVEL nationally, IF I felt like traveling.
  22. Long time to questions right?! Okay, now I know that there are many of you who CAN and DO travel extensively, but for those of us who cant or WONT for various reason, tell me, circumstances permitting, would you rather stay home and read about your favorite places or would you rather visit them in person? As for me, I use to want to do alot of traveling but lately I've found that the whole process is just too exhausting and to be honest, flying is just BEYOND a hassle. If you want to travel outside the country, there's also the passport issue. Wont get into the expense:motz:The occasional trip is great but to travel to every place I love reading about would probably cause me a coronary! Besides, if I dont read about them, I can visit them on my favorite travel channels:mrgreen: So, what would you prefer to do, READ about your favorite places in the comfort of your home, or brave the outside and travel?
  23. I plan to continue reading Julie and Julia and then I may meander over to Ireland and read Rebels In Ireland OR I might go to England and read about that Other Boylen Girl! Praise God I dont need a passport to read!!!
  24. I'm about to be meet my cousins "Earl and Hurl" OMGosh!! That gives me the heebee geebees!!
  25. Just finished An Irish Country Village Christmas by Patrick Taylor. Now I'm starting trying to decide whether to read Moonstone or The Other Boylen Girl.
