  1. I read for as long as I could before falling asleep in my book. Pretty sure I need to go back a chapter, now, and reread a little. Aw, yeah I guess I didn't even really think "national". They need to make this an international thing.
  2. I just saw this hashtag on Twitter via Penguin Random House for #NationalReadathonDay. Are any of you curled up with a good book, a blanket and lots of coffee/hot chocolate/tea for the day? If so, what are you planning on Readathoning?
  3. MasterChef Junior. I just can't get enough of these brilliant kids.
  4. Aw!! That movie looks so cute I don't remember Paddington being big for my generation but I wish he was around when I was a kid! So happy you guys had a great time!
  5. Cupcakes. I just made a box of Funfetti cupcakes with vanilla frosting with lots of sprinkles on top.
  6. Yaaaay! That's such a great gig for you! Hope you have fun and make lots of furry new friends! I asked the bf if, someday after we're living together and stuff, he'd let me foster. His response? "We'd take in 6 husky puppies and keep them all and then you'd bring home 6 kittens and we'd keep them all." Yes. He knows me well.
  7. They're all so beautiful, Michelle! <3 A house full of kitties would be heaven!
  8. Oh no!! Nothing grosser than cat barf! Winny is a foodaholic. I have to watch how much he gets for treats and wet food because he will just eat it all in one sitting and not pace himself. With the hard kibble he paces himself, but just because that's like a consolation prize to the good stuff.
  9. Want Winny? He's been whining all day because I gave him wet food yesterday and now he thinks he needs it every day. With treats. And normal dry food. And a golden altar dedicated to himself.
  10. Fish sticks and tater tots with a side of root beer and left-over Halloween Sour Patch kids.
  11. Just made ham and cheese scrambled eggs, tater tots and am having with a blueberry muffin I baked last night and a cup of French press coffee.
  12. Hello and welcome back, Renate! So glad to see you back again!
  13. I'm so sorry, Virginia My heart breaks for her. I hope somehow things work out for her and she doesn't lose her sight at all. Hope you feel better asap! Tis the season for awful colds and such. I hope you can get to the doctor and find out what's wrong. So sorry for your loss. I'm glad you got time with family and the dogs. Have a good, safe trip back tomorrow. We had an icky mini ice storm this morning so I'm just focusing on cleaning today. Nothing too fancy or special, but I got a fresh jug of bleach and Imma put it to good use. There are lots of things to clean when you have a cat and a tiny apartment. *is boring*
  14. Pigs are cute. My stepmom is obsessed with one called Esther the Wonder Pig (Google her, she's super cute) and keeps posting stuff about her to my FB. She even has a vegan food page, lol! I love the little pygmy goats. They're such cute little jerks! I can't help but laugh when they do their little goat popcorn dances. Animals are great, but you walk into my dad and stepmom's place and dog fur tumbleweeds roll through in every room. Its a looot of fur to keep up with! They're lucky they have an acerage, although the dogs (one of the big German Shepherds in particular) love to go swimming in the neighbor's cows' water trough. And roll in cow poop. And get skunked.
  15. You're lucky. My parents divorced when I was a kid and my mom doesn't like animals, but when I was about 12 my dad found a black kitten in the hood of his truck during winter and decided to keep him. He and the dog my grandparents kept for us grandkids, a teacup poodle named Lady, are the pets I treasure from childhood My dad married a PETA vegan animal activist and now they have 5 large dogs, 2 cats and she's trying to convince him to allow her to have goats (they have 12 acres of land). Here's my absolute favorite pic of the dogs. There's no way to walk into my dad and stepmom's house and walk out without fur on you, lol.
  16. LOL! I can't stand Taylor Swift's music but that video is priceless. He looks like he'd be a fun guy to know.
  17. He'd snuggle you like crazy then beg you for treats. Yours looks like a little moo cow. I love moo kittehs! My boyfriend has a tiny green eyed tabby who he found in a shelter a couple years ago. She's full grown but is only about 5-6 lbs and has a broken lawn mower in her throat. You so much as poke her and she starts purring louder than any garbage disposal I've ever heard! When we Skype with each other the cats tend to jump up and stare at each other through the computer.
  18. You should see them when he 'nips out.
  19. This is my darling baby Sir Winston (Winny). He's a huge cuddle bug and loves to beg everyone who comes in my apartment for food. He has no shame.
  20. Squeeee! He's so adorable! I just want to give him a bunch of belleh rub!
  21. Thank you guys! There are so many good new books coming back, I hate feeling so far behind! Thanks Noll! I first heard of The Iron King on my writer's forum. The author pops in there every so often and was very highly recommended. Haha, I follow Maureen Johnson on Twitter and she is a bit nutty and does post a lot. I loved the first in this series (The Madness Underneath is book #2) but its been probably 3ish years or more since I've read book #1. I'm hoping I can fall back into that world without having to go back and reread the other one first. Oh really? I didn't know all that about her! That's really awesome. I love women who are multi-dimentional in real life. I remember picking that book up in the store a while back because the cover was beautiful and the story seemed like a good read. Funny how covers sometimes sell a good story just as well as the synopsis. Thank you! I hope you do, too! I've made it a chapter into The Iron King but did not get my daily chapter in yesterday because my leg pain flared. The pain has gone down and I'm drinking coffee now (yay! ) so I'm hoping to get in at least 2 chapters to make up for yesterday's miss.
  22. I just read 20 pages of The Iron King. TBH, its not the most gripping story yet, but I've heard such good things that I hope it gets better fast.
  23. For a while now its been hard for me to focus on reading, but I have so many beautiful books on my shelf that I am hoping to bring my mojo and focus back one chapter at a time. Lately it seems like I am only able to focus enough for a few pages, but a few pages are better than no pages, right? I'm starting off my list with just 5 books I want to read because right now a smaller goal seems more doable than a giant TBR mountain. To finish in 2015: The Iron King by Julie Kagawa The American Heiress by Daisy Goodwin Matched by Ally Condie The Madness Underneath by Maureen Johnson The Wide and Starry Sky by Nancy Horan And hopefully, should the mojo give me a little encouragement, I'd like to read the whole Divergent series before I see the next movie, Insurgent. Now, I shall stick my nose in The Iron King and hope to finish a chapter before I go finish the dishes.
  24. Lol! You're from the south, though! Anything under 50 is cold to you guys! My grandma lives in Phoenix and had her heat on the other day when it was 60.
  25. Its 30, sunny and lovely here today! Think I may go out for a walk later on.
