  1. I read about 40 pages of the Lost Book of Salem last night, and I am getting into it. It seems like it could be good. I have been a little worried so far as I have been able to put it down easily. But this week is going to be a huuuge reading fest as I have found out that I am going to the states to see my other half! depends on tickets. If I can get a cheapish flight for tomorrow I am catching the coach at midnight, if not, then I am going to go the following day. I am so very excited! I have not seen him since July. So Flying = Precious reading time!
  2. I agree I felt he wasn't exactly trying to build her confidence. Saying you were worse then Ester Rantzien (Sp) is not exactly going to help you think you are going to do it.
  3. Yay! Another one reading it. I started it the other day, I am only 70 pages in but It is Ok so far. I am hoping to have a huge reading session later so I can actually get into it.
  4. I was thinking the same thing.. something for Claudia to talk about on Monday! Haha. :lol:can't wait for the American Smooth. Any Ideas on who is doing that?
  5. Fractured is not one of her best to be honest the actaul murder is not as good as some of her rest. Yeah thats right Each book has a storyline/ murder/ crime on their own right and merit, but to get the full joy out of the book you need to read the previous books. The only one I will say that you NEED to read the previous books is Skin Privilege. The Murder has a lot of links of previous books and characters that I could imagine it could get rather confusing without previous knowledge of past experience/ murder cases and characters. Exactly and triptych is an awesome book, one of my favs!
  6. No worries, you help me when I am clueless on sookie Stackhouse and dexter books
  7. I would read them for the date they were published. ok so you have a couple which are not as good, but they flow through the years and you see the characters progress and age. This is how I would read them: Blindsighted (2001) Kisscut (2002) A Faint Cold Fear (2003) Indelible (2004) Faithless (2005) Triptych (2006) (Wwill Trent) Beyond Reach (2007) aka Skin Privilege Fractured (2008) (Will trent) Genesis (2009) (is a Grant County novel but also has will Trent) aka Undone
  8. You will love her, she does have a couple books which are not as good, later on in the series, but I suppose that is like all other authors. But her last book brought her back to the early days. I hope you get the rest of the series soon. By the way. There are a couple which are not in the Grant County (Sara Linton) series but will need to be read for the latest Grant County book.
  9. I agree with that, but I was confused why Bruce was involved, I honestly thought I missed something (Like danyl in the Xfactor) I was like huh? Have I missed something?, I thought Brendan was just going in a huff for a good reason. I hate that!
  10. I agree I think the latins ar alot worse than the ballroom. i was actually for the first time in Strictly History a little bored by the show. I was dissapointed with some of the dances. I thought Ricky Groves was really repetative, and I was a little disspaointed with Ali's, more becuase I was looking forward to Brian (an American doing the jive!) The only one that kept me hooked was like you was Jade's and i am not the biggest fan of hers but she for me seems one of the most consistant of the lot. Ricky a ten? Really???!!! Alesha come on love! As for the scoring. Why wasn't Anton and Laylia (?) in the bottom 2? It was just just well Bloodyy awful. They forgot more steps than any one else, and I felt like in the end she did not try and get back into the routene, like she gave up before she even started. Was not sure why Brendan walked off.. can someone tell me why? Skippy the kangeroo, I have heard worse from Craig. As for the result: I thought it was time for Joe to go and as for zoe, she is good but the routene bored me, so even though I was a little shocked, I don't think people warm to them as a couple and with the boring routene it was not a complete shock. What does everyone else think?
  11. Heeellllllo my dear! Sorry to hear you have ot been well lately, are you feeling a little better now???

  12. I have not read anymore of the Lost book of Salem but I got a knock at my door, it was my next door neighbour. I picked her children up from school for all last week and she gave me a potted plant and THE NEW James patterson I Alex cross. book I am soo excited. She said she noticed my large James Patterson collection and knew this came out recently. I am going to savour it and wait until my huge library book pile has gone down before I read it, but I just read the blurb and it sounds really good!!!! *gets excited*
  13. Thanks Ghost. I love slaughter and recommend her to anyone. That is the great thing about this forum you get so many great ideas! Thannk god for libraries!
  14. Yes I would recommend them, also the Gerritsen's books! Sounds like you have the best TBR pile ever!
  15. Whoooo Hoooo, another Slaughter fan in the making I hope. It is a gripping read. I hope you have fun with it!
  16. Thanks! I will most definately write a review on my book log thread. I did not read any last night as I fell asleep but I read 30 pages while eating my breakfast this morning and was easy to read. i am on chapter 2 now I think. Connie has just finished her interview. Looking forward to reading more later.
  17. Finished The Hundredth Man and now starting The Lost book of Salem.
  18. Book #11: The Hundredth Man by Jack Kerley A darkly compelling serial-killer novel introducing the next big name in psychological thrillers and, in Carson Ryder, a fascinating and complex protagonist set for many books to come. A body is found in the sweating heat of an Alabama night; headless, words inked on the skin. Detective Carson Ryder is good at this sort of thing -- crazies and freaks. To his eyes it is no crime of passion, and when another mutilated victim turns up his suspicions are confirmed. This is not the work of a 'normal' murderer, but that of a serial killer, a psychopath. Famous for solving a series of crimes the year before, Carson Ryder has experience with psychopaths. But he had help with that case -- strange help, from a past Ryder is trying to forget. Now he needs it again. When the truth finally begins to dawn, it shines on an evil so twisted, so dangerous, it could destroy everything that he cares about! Ok I was recommended this book by Mac, thank you so much Mac. I intended to read another in the Carson Ryder series, but got told to start from the beginning and I am so glad I did. Wow!!! What can I say. I twist a minute yet complex piece of writing, very psychological and very dark. Some memorable characters that I instantly took a liking too. I felt the empathy for the characters were nearly up there with Slaughter's Sara and Jeffery Toliver. Carson Ryder's character is complex yet easy to relate to in many ways. His struggles in life and constant paisn from the past make him an instant loveable hero. His partner Harry is also a good character and plays well with Carson. The only thing about the Characters is Eva. I like her character In some places the language was a little lost on me and I did not understand some of the dialect and 'twangs'. But thanks to my OH who is American he was able to tell me what certain words and phrases ment. The actual murders were original and compelling. Like I said previously many twists and turns and many red herrings on the way. I totally did not get the endings or many of the twists leading up to it. All in all a good thriller with a lot to look forward to for the next book. There are still a few questions to be answered and a few characters whom I feel have a lot more to give. A promising Debut novel and a muss for all Tess Grittsen/ Jeffery Deaver/ Slaughter fans. 9/10
  19. Very nice!!! I don't have many from back in the day so to speak. But I collect vinyls and have many strange and wonderful ones. Including, bright Green, clear, White marble. Oh I love vinyls! The japanese make so many pretty ones!
  20. Yeah she is pretty good, and could be a dark horse, she has alot of potential.
  21. Nope no other half here, unfortunately, he lives in Texas, so a little far for him to come over and sort them out. haha.

if I get stuck and don't know what book to read I ask one of the kids to pick one out - works everytime.

  22. Indeed, they do have to come first, if they didn't I would have said a few more curse words at them by now! haha.

Oh I have not heard of that book. I am on the last 30 pages of Jack Kerley - The Hundredth Man, It is a really good book and one I would recommend. Not sure whether to start the next one of his or to move on to something else. I have a huge pile of library books to read.. decisions, decisions.

  23. Oh no not the Dreaded Ex!

You don't have to drink have a nice J20, there not all that bad. I had to do that for a while when I was on meds and while I was pregnant.

Oh what books do you have?

I hate my kids schools. I am fortunate to live in a nice area, but with that come snobs. These people think that becuase I have kids and live in a nice area I have to act and dress a certain way and HATE it if I don't. I have looks and digs everytime I go there. But it si a good school and area for my kids so I put up with it.

  24. I looked on your profile because I just read your post on the October thread, and saw your reply on your profile.

Oh my god mate I am so sorry! It must feel damn strange to be back out and in your house!

You shouldbe out tonight, celebrating!! Having a few down the pub!

As for me, nope nothing, having a couple beers once the little ones have gone to bed, read some of my book and maybe listen to some vinyls. Samed old really. haha.

I am more than likely going to be on here for a while. I am still rather annoyed from my little argument at my son's school so I need to calm down first

  25. Well I wear it, so I thnk it is nice haha.

Wow! The best day and the worse? Wow, I am thinking at least an exciting day!

Mine has been a "Pain in the ass" day, but the same old, same old haha.
