  1. Finished River Of Darkness by Rennie Airth early this morning. Very good crime novel set in 1921 England with echoes of WW1. Started The Witch Of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Peake this afternoon. Written in 1959 it's set in Connecticut of 1667 and not surprisingly is about a witch trial.
  2. 60 pages into Everwild by Neal Shusterman,the sequel to Everlost. Very good so far.
  3. Half way through The Street Philosopher by Matthew Pamplin,his debut novel I bought last year,and having read rave reviews for his 3rd novel recently I thought I'd catchy-up!
  4. I'm a grandmother living through a famine in Germany,1507,and my daughter-in-law has accused me of witchcraft.
  5. 60+ pages into The Witch's Trinity by Erika Mailman-very good so far.
  6. I'm hunting werewolves in The Black Forest,Germany,1076.
  7. Yeah,read this and the 2nd in the series,Dark Fire. If you're into both history & crime it's a must read.

  9. Finished Remembrance by Theresa Breslin yesterday afternoon,and started Order Of The Wolf by Shawn W Salzman last night.

Quite a few years ago I went through a phase of buying only first edition hardbacks of my favourite authors new books,but I've chilled since and buy paperbacks from charity book shops like Oxfam etc,but I like them to be in good nick,and also buy 'like new' from Amazon Marketplace,and use Awesome Books too. I also use the library a lot now. I give back most of my charity books and like the idea of a good book passing through several readers hands.
  11. Half-way through A Dream Of Wolves by Michael C White. Recently bought/ordered The Oracle by Catherine Fisher,The Resistance by Gemma Malley and The Briar King by Greg Keyes. All different levels of fantasy.

  14. A Time To Love And A Time To Die by Erich Maria Remarque. A near mint 1957 paperpack which cost 3'6 back then!
  15. Read 200 pages of Here Be Dragons by Sharon Kay Penman,only 500 to go,but worth it! I'm usually a 300-500 reader,so more used to sprints than marathons!
  16. Anyone read The Ghost Orchid by Carol Goodman? Looks like an historical ghost story.
  17. I've read the 1st two of Sansom's historical crime novels,Dissolution and Dark Fire,and can't recommend them enough!

  19. I'm 100 pages into a 700 page historical novel,Here Be Dragons by Sharon Kay Penman set during the reigns of Richard The Lionheart and King John. Very good.
  20. I'm now in the 'Wild West' of 1888,where I'm a white man who left his wife and daughters and turned Indian 30 years ago,and have now returned to see my eldest daughter one last time.
