  1. Started Lion Of Ireland by Morgan Llywelyn this morning which fictionalises Brian Boru's rise to High King of Ireland in the 11th Century. So far,so good!

  4. C.J Sansom's Matthew Shardlake historical crime series set during Henry VIII's reign starting with Dissolution,and G.M Ford's Frank Corso crime series staring with Fury.
  5. Has anyone read The Declaration by Gemma Malley and the rest in that series? Liked the sound of it and just ordered it.
  6. Got about 80 pages of Dark Fire by C.J Sansom left to read,the 2nd of the historical crime novels set during Henry VIII's reign,and like the 1st it's been a cracking good read. Bought The Declaration by Gemma Malley & The Last Ride by Thomas Eidson from Awesome books earlier.

  14. Finished Everlost by Neal Shusterman this morning before work,and started Elizabeth Chadwick's historical novel The Wild Hunt this evening. Also got A Dream Of Wolves by Michael White & Castle by J Robert Lennon by post today,so they're stacking up!

  18. Still reading & enjoying Kenneth Cameron's Victorian crime novel, The Bohemian Girl,and bought Val McDermid's A Darker Domain in The British Heart Foundation shop today. They always have a huge stock and shelves are alphabetical too. Never read McDermid,but this one features the 1984 Miner's Strike which I'm interested in.

  20. Tried to finish The Stolen Child by Keith Donohue last night but kept nodding off(not 'cos the book's that bad!),finished it earlier this morn(fairies/changelings),and started The Bohemian Girl by Kenneth Cameron after.(Victorian London/crime)
  21. I buy from both Alibris & Amazon Marketplace and have got a lot of bargains thru the years,but also enjoy browsing in libraries/bookshops. I visited Durham a few weeks ago and must've spent about 45 minutes browsing in their Oxfam shop with that old booky smell and great background music! It helps when their shelves are alphabetical. I was quite amazed at finding 3 books on my TBR list.

  23. Finished City Of Thieves by David Banioff at 7a.m this morn:roll: and it's in the top 5 books I've read this year. Started The Stolen Child by Keith Donohue this afternoon.
  24. I'm a 17 yr old Russian boy in Stalingrad of '41 which the Germans have surrounded. I 've 'stolen' from a dead German parachutist and after spending a night in prison with a young Russian 'deserter' the officer-in-charge has offered us freedom if we can find him a dozen eggs for his daughter's wedding cake!
