  1. My books are in a mess ... lol. I gave up years ago of keeping my authors in alphabetical order. I do try and keep authors together in publication order but disorganisation is my middle name. I have a bookshelf by my bed - books piled ON my bed and books all over the place. I read in bed or when its quiet - I tend not to be able to read whilst watching tele or listening to music (unless it's classical). I do bookmark my books by either freebie bookmarks from Waterstones or use the dust jacket on hardback books. I have to move around a lot whilst reading as I get pains in my legs and arms if I don't. Sometimes I read aloud but mostly I read to myself. The one place I can't read is in the bath - as that is the only place I want to escape from EVERYTHING!
  2. Hey fellow Dean Koontz fan ... how are you?

  3. Latter end of the 21 to 30 bracket ... 29 in September so I might as well get used to saying it now!
  4. Iridescence and exquisite are probably my favourite words along with Flicker (David Eddings used this word a lot in the Belgariad) or luminosity, and lucid - love words like that also a lot of s words like slither, sly, Severus Snape (he he couldn't resist!) I am not even going to put in words I hate though the constant use of the F word annoys me - surely there are other words you can use to convey anger without swearing, to me its just not clever. One of my favourite songs is Eurythmics I Need A Man - A three minute angsty song without one swear word!
  5. I noticed you like Dean Koontz I got most of his books in BCA hardback and read some of them - I ADORE him ... though False Memory I had to put down for a bit as I am writing an evil phsychiatrist and I don't want to finish that until I got my story straightened out as I don't wish to be accused of plagiarism ... in case I get the urge to pickpocket. I am reading Mr Murder at the moment. So far my favourite one is By The Light of the Moon. His portrayal of a handicapped person is absolutely spot on as I have a handicapped sister and one scene in particular brought tears to my eyes when the character said to his brother: "Do you hate me?" Anyway welcome!
  6. I had Monstrous Regiment read out to me and must admit found it boring! Not his best imo ... I love the Witches - when I first read Wyrd Sisters I had just gone through Macbeth three times (three times too many!) and, therefore found that book absolutely hilarious for the mickey take. I do prefer the Witches and Watch Books, Rincewind is all right but - well ... I want to shut him up. I agree though that Susan gets on my nerves too. My favourite new character is Moist Von Lipwig though I wish he would have expanded on William De Worde as Truth is by far my most favourite!
  7. Dr Gore, Cheif Education Officer for the County of Yorkshire, smiled like a hungry vampire, the sort of thin-lipped, self-satisfied smile of Count Dracula before he sinks his fangs into a helpless victim. Over Hill and Dale - Gervaise Phinn
  8. Still a Yorkshire school inspector in the second year of his job - with a very interesting development with his relationship.
  9. Kylie: Start with the Belgariad - they were his first (and best), set of books. Pawn of Prophecy, Queen of Sorcery, Magicians Gambit, (forgot the title of the fourth one!) Enchanters End Game. Or if that feels daunting, Redemption of Althalus is single story that is over 1,000 pages long, but full of humour! Tiernan - Welcome and enjoy - I am reading a Patrick Rothfuss one called Name of the Wind - it is good so far.
  10. "What?" Rachel asked. "Don't ever feel like you're the one to blame." She sipped some more of her hot chocolate. "You start your life as a victim, and you'll remain a victim all the rest of your life!" Whispers of the Past by Suzanna Addison (unpublished!) Situation - Rachel has just been through a horrible experience with one of her teachers and her grandma is telling her she is not to blame! Next time I'll put in someone else's works.
  11. Already? Wow I am surprised as it only went yesterday afternoon ... lol! Happy reading and you can tell me what happens at the end - I wasn't bothered about ending it so you can tell me how it ends.

  12. On Wiki it says that he died the same day as my dog ... I used to like June!
  13. I keep meaning to buy that one - is it really that good? Walt Disneys Enchanted is another fantasy film I'd recommend. It starts of as one of the old fashioned cartoons then the wicked witch (deliciously played by Susan Sarandon) puts her in the real world - New York real world - when she and the cartoon Prince fall in love! It's a very good film and, though I watched it only once months ago, I will have to watch it again sometime soon.
  14. At long last, after a two-hour search up and down the Dale, along muddy twisting roads, across narrow stone bridges, up dirt tracks, past swirling rivers and dribbling streams, and through countless villages in an increasingly desperate search, I had eventually arrived at my destinaton. The Other Side of the Dale - Gervase Phinn That took a while to copy type.
  15. I am a school inspector in the outback of Yorkshire - a new school inspector at that. Gervase Phinn - The Other Side of the Dale
  16. Maths lessons are full of problems ... but English lessons are another story. Awesome Egyptians Horrible Histories
  17. Well cooking a chocolate cake could pip the post ... yum! lol ... sorry... need to be cheered up! My favourite Jeeves book is Right Ho Jeeves! I love that one.
  18. Hmm you won't like my novels then - as I have A LOT of upsetting scenes. Anyway - There is David Eddings - yes he hints at it but never goes into detail - and they are more for young adults than actual adults (I first read them when I was sixteen!) Belgariad quintet is his best and first works. Try them.
  19. Yep, well I have nothing better to do this morning ... lol.
  20. I am reading that one at the moment - yes it is regular Jeeves bill of fare! I love ALL his books and would love everything he has written.
  21. I have it in the addressed envelope just got to post it now it should be gone by the end of the week so you should hopefully recieve it next week. :)

  22. I think that he died in my arms which hurts - really does!

  23. Thanx for your message of comfort. I had some retail therapy but still doesn't ease the ache of coming home without his tail wagging!
