  1. :welcome2:Hey Liz!! Snowboarding! I think I'm too much of a wuss to try anything like that! Have fun!
  2. Hey Cienwenn!

    How are you?

We're just a forum of sugar mummys!! haa!! I was just talking about this to a woman I work with as she has a toy boy of 15 years!! (that's the age difference not his age.....now that would be strange!! haa!!)

So which book do you have? Was it The Coffin Dancer or The Vampire Lestat? It'll be really good to hear other views as we're reading it....that's when a person is most enthusiastic about a book isn't it :D

  3. I want to say no.....but I'll settle with maybe a little bit weird
  4. Oh I love the movie! I watched it a few years before I read the book so the characters were already in place for me Overall I think it's a pretty good adaptation and I think I'm maybe the only person on the planet who doesn't mind Ms Jolie. There's one scene in the movie which makes my skin crawl just thinking of it. It's during the part where
  5. Snapes chapter is my favourite part of all the books. It just soooooooooo sad! But everything comes together and you think "ahhhhhhh....that's why he did this that and the other" Really good! But yeah I cried like a baby for about an hour......then moved on!
  6. Me too!! He really gets on my nerves.....I thought he was going to cry in the board room last time! Roll on tonight! Can't wait to see what they produce
  7. The books were a million times better than the movie and totally addictive! I would definitely suggest everyone reads them as they're amazing. A friend of mine borrowed all three of them and never gave them back. I don't see her anymore but I feel like sending her a harsh letter! It'd make me feel better! I've just noticed how many people have Twilight avatars....I'm out of fashion!
  8. Oh yeah! That rings a bell! I can't imagine him just sitting back and watching all the potential mischief pass him by! haa!!
  9. Haaa!! I grew up in a house of 3 women so I know exactly what that's like!! There'd be a week every month when we just wouldn't speak to each other!! haa!!

Well I'm off to the Netherlands on a field trip with uni on Sunday (my project is to compare regeneration in two different shopping locations in Utrecht.....I'm basically going to shop my socks off! haa! :D) So I'll buy The Coffin Dancer on Thursday and take it with me to read on the ferry and on coach trips. I should have it finished by the time I get back (hopefully!!) :-)

Oooooh have you read The Vampire Lestat yet? I'm really looking forward to it!! Heee!! We should definitely book club that too!! It'll be good to discuss it with someone who has also just finished reading it......that's when we're most enthusiastic about it!! :D:D:D

  10. The teen years were just awful weren't they!! I used all my energy trying to remain under the radar away from potential bullies.....yikes!!

The British weather is just terrible at times. It's quite frustrating when you get snow in June! haaa!! Yeah.....the umbrella is the constant accessory! And you really don't know how to dress for the day ahead. If you wear a thick coat you can be certain of sun but if you don't it rains! Crazy weather!! Suppose it makes everyone really appreciate the sun we do get and when the weathers nice everyone is really nice to each other and happy! :D

I wish I could read a second language! I did contemplate learning German as I love Berlin and would quite like to live there for a year. You never know, I may get around to it one day!:D

  11. Hey Hobgoblin!! Welcome to the forum!
  12. :welcome2:Hey Joe!! Welcome to the forum! What sort of books do you normally read?
  13. I forgot about these books! I used to read R L Stine as a teenager and thought they were the scariest things ever!!
  14. Ah I love Peeves!! Totally forgot about him!! I can't remember!
  15. Hey! Yeah......maybe he is. I never really watched the Angel programme (I don't really watch a lot of tv which is a bit boring eh!! haa!!) I saw the movie adaptation of the book many moons ago so I related Louis to Brad Pitt who played him. I think that always helps to keep a girl engaged in the story mind you! But I'd definitely recommend it. Maybe you could watch the movie first before taking the plunge into the books? It also looks at how times change. It shows how people can become quite scared as they get older and the world around them becomes unfamiliar. It's something that I'm quite interested in anyway being a Town Planning student but I think I'm probably going to be one of those people when I'm older....eeeek!! Hope you're grand!! Reading anything interesting at the mo?
  16. I agree with you 100% Kate
  17. My BF has a few Pratchett books and I'm pretty tempted by Thud! So far I've only read Good Omens by Pratchett and Neil Gaimen and loved it!! The only thing that's stopping me is the fact that if I start reading them, I'll get hooked and end up failing my degree!! So......only another 3 and half years to go before I can start them!
  18. When I was about 9, an Aunt bought me a box set of classic novels which I still have somewhere. Great Expectations by Charles Dickens was one of the first books I ever read on my own and I fell in love with it! It still remains my favourite classic novel and in my top 3 all time favourite books. Not a typical childs book.....haa!
  19. Just finished Interview With the Vampire after accidentilly starting it one night. I love this book and really love the lead character Louis. Unlike most other vampires, he values human life even though he is ridiculed for this and can't quite let go of his past life. Throughout the book his good human nature is constantly trampled upon until he finally decides to live out the rest of his existence as a loner. I would give it a 9 out of 10! The follow up book is 'The Vampire Lestat' which I can't wait to start!!
  20. Think I'll add the first one to my ever growing wish list and take it from there!! I've heard of gossip girl but have no idea what it's about The Twilight aspect could be good though!

    Non Fiction

I like to read non fiction every now and then. The books are mainly biographies about people I have an interest in and they're usually music related people. Most recently I've read about Ian Curtis from Joy Division, Kurt Cobain from Nirvana and Lester Bangs who was a gonzo journalist back in the day. A few weeks ago I read a book which was intended to help with one of my assignments for uni and ended up loving it! It's called 'Celebration USA by Douglas Frantz'. The author and his wife moved to Celebration (the town that was built by the Walt Disney company) in Florida as an experiment and the book is a documentation of their time there. It's really freaky and the rules put in place by the company are unbelievable but it really made me think about the future of towns and cities and what role corporations could possibly play in their creation. I'd definitely recommend it!
  22. I can't read these sorts of books at all.....they're just too upsetting! I read A Child Called It a few years ago and it was harrowing to say the least!
  23. Thanks! He's a little bit younger than me but it's the best relationship I've ever been in :D

I'm so glad you enjoyed The Bone Collector! I had no idea the murderer was who he was either! When she visited the old train depot I was on the edge of my seat & reading through my fingers

I haven't read the other Deaver books yet but you should let me know when you're going to read them and I'll read them at the same time (we could have our own mini book club!! haa!!):D

I finished Interview With the Vampire when I was at Ross' parents house and loved it. At times, the style of writing became a bit heavy going as part of it's set in the 18th century but the story is amazing! I bought the follow up book 'The Vampire Lestat' yesterday so it looks like Noughts and Crosses is well and truely on the back burner!

How about you? Will you go straight onto the next Deaver book or will you take a break? :D
