  1. Grave Sight by Charlaine Harris This has proved to be a very gripping book. I have to admit that, when I first opened the package, the covers of the books put me off a little, thinking I'd gone and involved myself with having to read three books that looked like they might be for teenage girls (they might still be, I don't know!). However, regardless of whom they're aimed at, I thoroughly enjoyed the novel. The flawed heroes, the dubious small-town characters, the air of menace, even the way Harris doesn't particularly dwell on our heroine's special talent made me...believe in this book. It's worth a shot, even for those who might approach them with trepidation. I would put this in the same classification as the novel by Matt Ruff (Bad Monkeys). Not a book I'd seek out but, by gum, am I glad I did!! (Bad Monkeys is a book I read just prior to joining this site, so I've not reviewed it here - it's top-drawer, first class ace and brilliant). 9/10

NO points??? Dammit...what about pets? Do I get any pets? :D

  3. Well, if you must fall for a bad'un...
  4. Dammit! I went into Waterstone's (like a fool), and had to, had to buy Iain Banks' new book Transition. It's like a compulsion! This means I'll have to read this straight after I've read Grave Sight. Or, should I read the other two Charlaine Harris books immediately and post them on to the next person in the book ring? Probably the latter...

So, Beef, me old mucker. Here's a question. I assumed from the start that your claim to be female was, in point of fact, false. That wasn't the question. That was a preamble to the question. Here's the question I wish to pose. Why make such a claim? Is it to do with wishing to rain confusion upon us? Is it to do with maintaining anonymity in any way you possibly can? Is it that you have a worrying fascination with shoes and feel that making this claim excuses this?

Actually, reading back over this message, I appear to have asked many more than one question, and for this (and for lulling you into a false sense of security pertaining to the number of questions being presented to you) I humbly apologise. I wish not to offend, merely to seek knowledge, for is it not true that knowledge is power? And what does power make? That's right! Prizes!

Oh. No. It's pets that win prizes...no, I mean points, don't I?!?

  6. I feel exactly the same way! I always try and sneak through when someone else has opened the door. To use a catchphrase of Catherine Tate's: the dirty bar stewards...
  7. He he he *and other suspicious sounding chuckling*

    Greetings!

Good welcome returns, fella. I hope this finds you as happy as... ...hmmm, that's probably one you've heard many, many times. I'll stick my head in a bucket of water now.
  9. That doesn't actually sound that bad...
  10. I am a woman in her early twenties who, after being struck by lightening, can locate dead bodies and 'see' how they died. Currently, I'm stuck in Sarne, waiting for the Sheriff to give me permission to leave. It's quite vexing, I can assure you.
  11. I would actually rather disembowel myself with a blunt, wooden spoon than put myself through Bridget Jones' ruddy Diary. And I cannot stand Renee Zellwhatever, with her botoxed, pinched-up and puckered face. There. That's my spleen vented!
  12. Granted, but it turns out to be the University of Life, affiliated with the school of hard knocks. I wish I had more charisma!
  13. Naturally, I have a copy of BJ (as I like to refer to it) in my handbag at all times...I mean, who doesn't? But that's the exception to the rule...
  14. I'm with you on this one, CW!
  15. This is a huge bug bear of mine - to the point where I sometimes question said chap as he's about to walk out. I can't stand it!!! It takes two minutes to wash and dry your hands. To not do so is lazy and ruddy unhygienic, dammit! Aaaaaaannnnnd, relax!
  16. Very well, thank you. I might just go and see District 9 today, early afternoon! What are your plans? Anything groovy?

Yo. Happy birthday, fella. Sorry it's a bit late. Hope you're having an ace Sunday.

  18. Morning Andrea! :D

  19. I have all four of these books to read on my shelf. I'm well looking forward to them, as the young say using their vernacular! They sound, like, well sick, guy!
  20. Aloha. Just checking in to say yo. Hope you'r3e having a lovely weekend.

  21. Granted, but the only partners available are complete war-pigs and kerb-slugs! I wish I was a rich man, yidle-idle-iddle-idle etc.
  22. Freaky. I do the LOTR marathon every christmas, too! I get pizza in, bacon in, the works and just veg for a day. It always makes me weepy when Pippin is singing to Denethor whilst poor old Faramir and his boys are getting their harris's kicked by the dirty orcs!
  23. Granted, although from such heights you will gaze upon the ruin mankind has wrought upon this earth and fear for it's future... I wish I was more optimistic .

    ii's reading blog

My aunty was deeply concerned about her weight, so she went to see her GP. He told her that she was, in fact, technically clinically obese. She said she wanted a second opinion, so he said "Okay. You're ugly, too." Cack joke. Sorry. You should see the guys my brother knocks about with. It's like an ocean of handsome. Where do they get the time to train in the gym??? *shakes head in wonderment*
  25. Erm...this really isn't my field, then...
