  1. Love Rears Its Ugly Head - by Living Colour Man, this is cool. Not heard it since I did my GCSE's!
  2. Mac

Norwegian Wood. Excellent novel. I'd be interested in seeing if you agree with my review (Mac Reads, first entry, I think).

Hope you're enjoying it and that you're very well.

  3. Mac

Good man. Good call. Good work!

    Hope you're well, fella.

Hello, my friend. I've not popped by for a while, so thought I'd say hi and see how things are. We had real fun with the flippin' snow during the early stages of this month. I hope you weren't affected during that day when loads of people were stranded.

What's new in your part of the world, fella? I think we're still coming down in three weeks or so and I cannot wait. It's been nearly two years since I visited the family's place in Porthleven. I spend most of my annual leave doing Scout stuff or the Duke of Edinburgh Award. I'm actually lucky I've got this week coming up. I need the break.

Maybe a beer might be in order, if we can arrange things around each other? No worries if not, mind. But beer is always good.

    Hope you're very well, mate.

  5. Hey there, Scarlette. Just a quickie to say aloha and that I hope you're okay. :friends0:

    Your Age?

A mere babe in arms, Sir! Hush now.
  7. I'm really interested in this period. The book sounds like a good read. Maybe I'll get on it before too long (although you should see my mountainous TBR pile - it's ridiculous!). Hope you're very well, Jessi.
  8. It might sound a little sad, but my GF and I are going to have a curry and watch some episodes of Buffy. Not had a lot of down-time recently. I'm looking forward to it.

    What about you?

  9. Mac

Whoa! You like all the authors I like! Excellent stuff! Check out my thread McRecommends and see if there're any others we share in common.

Hope you've had a good day.

  10. I am now, CW. Thank you. :friends0::friends0::friends0:

  11. My girlfriend has put on Enchanted. We're at that bit where the main lady is singing about how one knows if he loves you, faffing about Central Park. Dire. But she loves it. Sigh.
  12. The hangover is slain and I am feeling groovy. Last week I worked (including the voluntary stuff) 74 hours. So anything less than that this week is a bonus. It doesn't look half as crazy at the moment, anyway.

Good luck on Tuesday, dear friend. I shall pop on to ask how it went. And I hope Friday's move goes well. New apartment, Lady. Woo Hoo!

  13. Of course, I have an unfair advantage, what with being so unbelievably cool anyway, that any book I'm holding has it's sales boosted by 200%.... Ha. Ha. Ha. *sounds of Mac gasping for oxygen from laughing so hard at the irony.
  14. Good morning to you. How're tricks? I am responding ridiculously late to your last message, but that's purely because I'm rubbish.

I did, in fact, have two weeks off over Christmas, but needed a holiday to get over that! I'm on half term in only three weeks time, so this is good. The lady in my avatar is the very beautiful Zooey Deschanel, an actress on whom I have a harmless little crush. Those eyes!

What're you up to? Fun stuff, one hopes. How's the job going? I imagine that you're well settled now and enjoying all things Western.

    Take care. Happy days.

  15. I'm going into town today, so might well buy this one as well. What a great review, Bethany. Thanks for this.
  16. Good morning, Lady! 'Tis 10.11am and I am considering making a massive breakfast of greatness. I have my book, my mug of tea and my enormous hangover, so my Sunday only needs said breakfast to be complete.

How are you, my lovely friend? What plans have you for the week ahead?

Greetings, Ben. How's all things sixth form going? Have you had new starters? How is this new year progressing? How are the studies? How many questions am I likely to ask? Will this be the last question? Or this one? Or this last one?

Ah. There we are, that was it.

When I began Sixth Form we had a whole bunch of newbies start - 5 girls, and all in my form! All five were gorgeous (and exotic, because they came from at least nine miles away!). I had a girlfriend from the age of 15 to 21 - Jo, still one of my closest friends - so never turned on the charm with them, but just because one's on a diet it doesn't mean one can't look at the menu, eh!

I've always thought that it's wonderful to appreciate fine art, as long as we don't take the paintings off the wall.

My, what am I talking about???

*sounds of Mac muttering to himself into his mug of tea.

  18. This sounds quite interesting. I love history, so might well look out for this. Thanks, James.
  19. Good afternoon, Genevieve, my lovely friend. I always think that the '30's look was a great one. I wish that people would dress more smartly these days. I love well made suits, and ladies looking sophisticated and stylish. I'm sure you'll look amazing taking this path. My dear friend Andrea has quite the '30's style and always looks simply gorgeous.

How's January going? It's always so dark and gloomy, so whenever the sun shines I try and orchestrate event s so that I can get out into it!

    Thinking of you. xx

  20. Join me! I can't pass a bookshop without popping in and grabbing at least one book in my sweaty paws. It's sad, really. Nice review, Lady.
  21. I wasn't that mad keen on The Secret of Crickley Hall. He's written some absolute BELTERS, though, like Moon, The Dark, The Fog, Once... and Others.

I'd definitely give these a go. I think we share similar tastes, so am reasonably confident in recommending them to you.

My "me-day" turned very swiftly into an "others-day" as they so often do. My estranged father telephoned to inform me he no longer lived in Greece and had, in fact, returned to Britain and was living in Swadlincote (of all places!), so I ended up tootling down there to see him and his wife (number 4) - a strange evening, to be sure. I think since he's turned 65 he's become aware of his own mortality and wants to make more of an effort with his sons, which is fine with me. We all make mistakes we wish we could rectify, and I can be one of his.
