    Martial Arts

i did some mixed martial arts classes a few years ago for a short time...then did nothing for a few years, now ive started kickboxing which I am really enjoying (MMA is good but better to get the basics right first I guess)!
  2. Sounds interesting...gonna try to get hold of this!
  3. It really depends on each individual books...some are so easy to read through that they really flow, I can have music on in the background without any issues. Other books, they require my full attention (otherwise I get to the end of a page and realise I havent actually "read / taken in" a single word..usually if that happens I go back a few pages to make sure I didnt miss anything!
  4. The majority of books I am given as gifts (xmas, birthdays etc)...but theres a pizzeria nearby that sells 2nd hand books and donates all proceeds to charity..which I thinks quite nice
  5. Ive never read a "horror" book, so am hoping somebody can recommend one for me which! Ideally I am hoping for something new, something that hasnt made the transition onto film, and something that will scare me silly! Thanks
  6. 24 Series 3...needless to say I am lagging...

    More football

Im loosing interest in the FA cup by the minute...its a shame the "big" teams dont take it seriously anymore!
  8. I find Dawkins books in general very interesting, and yep, if I saw someone with the God dillusion in their hands I would think, "ok cool, they either think like me, or they are at least open to the idea"...either way thats cool in my eyes!
  9. Hey Nollaig!! I agree with both...massive no go for Twilight...or Twiglet as its now referred to in my household...and Clockwork Orange is uber cool!
  10. Hi June, I know exactly what you mean...I have produced music on a small scale for the last few years and on 1 occasion I had the fortune of hearing a piece of mine coming out of a strangers car stereo as they passed - I was immediately overcome with immense pride! Pablo...yes thats what I was thinking! I guess there is no right or wrong answer...just hoping this would be a good way to get to know other members ...do you think you will give Gravitys Rainbow another shot??
  11. Hi everybody, My names Darren, I am new to the board so wanted to make a post to hopefuly get to know a few of the existing members Anyway I was just wondering what everyones vote is for the No.1 book that makes you look cool "to be seen reading in a public place". Now before we go any further, let me stress that I dont agree with this type of Tom Foolery...books should be read for the right reasons, but I do believe that some books have a certain kudos about them, and Joe Public might be seen reading these books on the tube to gain credibility amongst other commuters...(perhaps you have caught them out for holding the book upside down??) I guess ultimately this is also in the eye of the beholder i.e. Whilst I might think somebody is "cool" for reading Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas...somebody else might feel the same way about Bridges of Madison County. So let me finally refine my question: If you were on a train / the tube - and a chap / chapess were sat opposite you, what book would they need to be seen reading for you to deam them "cool". Phew...I got there in the end
