One of his - Weathercock - is one of those books where the subject matter tests ones capacity for perseverance to the point where you go "That's it! I can't possibly read any more of this! It's far too disturbing!" and you turn the page and Mr Duncan exonerates himself. A challenging author, one who rewards his readers for sticking with him.
Death of an Ordinary Man is excellent, too!

Ooh ooh oooooh! You're reading I, Luciifer! It's brilliant. I love Glen Duncan. Have you read any of his others, or is this a new author for you? His other stuff is ace as well. Sometimes he really tests the reader. Great. Magic. Primo.
I actually typed the word 'primo'.
Sigh.
Hope you're well, Noll. x

Hi Sarah. How are things in the land of sunshine and plenty? I hope all is well with you and that your parents stumped up the cash for your tuition. And I'm really pleased they changed your grade from F to A.
Funnily enough, I wouldn't be surprised if, when I finally take my exams, I end up getting sweet FA...
Take care, my friend. Hope everything is tickety-boo. x

La la laaaa! Hello Beth! How's the networking...erm...working, lady? I hope you're having a super time.
I'm tremendously busy at the mo, but am off sick with a rather unpleasant stomach bug - most likely a result of being so busy. But it's mostly outdoor stuff, teaching young folk how to do stuff in the wild. Love it. Not complaining. Only my stomach is.
Take good care, my friend. x

Hi Ben. How're things with you? I'm assuming you are at school at this time. I'm off sick today (as I was yesterday) - I seem to have caught a reasonably unpleasant stomach bug. Last week I was away with 40 Y7's on a residential outdoor activity week. Now, this sort of thing is totally my bag, but I managed to get about sixteen hours sleep over the whole period, which has probably made me run down a little. I was out on the hills with the scouts all weekend as well.
I need my head read.

Why, what's up, Giulia? Emotional upsets are my area of expertise, you know. Despite all appearances and professional background, I'm the softest sack of doormats the country has ever seen. x

Hiya Giulia. I'm off work today - burnt out a little over the last few weeks with so little sleep and complete madness to deal with during the days - so have time to read, nap and watch a few DVD's.
How are you doing, my lovely friend? What's goin' down in Groovetown? x

I'm currently reading Narrow Dog To Carcossonne by Terry Darlington. It's a true account of a retired couple sailing their Narrowboat across the English Channel to France and down to Carcossonne. The 'Narrow Dog' of the title is Jim, their Whippet. It's a lovely story.
I've not had a lot of time to chat on the forum lately - I seem to be exceptionally busy at the moment. I run two scout groups (10-14's and 14-18's) and two sets of something we have here in England called the Duke of Edinburgh's Award (one at school and one with my 14-18's). The DofE is great fun and is excellent at developing young people by introducing them to volunteering, physical activities, learning new skills (an instrument, for example) and getting them out into the hills on expeditions (my personal favourite!).
I'm hoping that you finish your thesis soon, so you can relax with your feet up, a good book in your hand and a large glass of some excellent beverage of your choice beside you!
