  1. Seems like nobody has read Emma for a loooooooooong time...except from me! I see many here who thought Emma to be antipathetic. Though I thought the same thing at the beginning, partly because of her snobbery, as the story proceeded, I found her more and more likable. I felt that as the story goes on, we watch her becoming more and more mature. Besides, think:she was an upper-class young woman to whom everybody (apart from Mr.Knightley) kept saying who beautiful, intelligent and generally great she was. In such an environment, it seems natural that her vanity reached quite high levels. Overall, I liked the book very much
  2. The translation is indeed very important, a bad translation can actually make a book lose some of its beauty, I believe
  3. So, that's how it works now, huh? I only saw a few entries and the voting result. I think that Iceland had a pretty good song. As soon as the winner started to sing, I remembered why I didn't like him the first time I saw him...he got such a stupid expression while singing!
  4. By the way, is anybody watching the latest news from Cannes?
  5. :D the junior viewpoint of birth!
  6. Harry Potter all the way But on the other hand, apart from the fact that they're both very popular, I don't find anything else in common
  7. I'm only watching the voting the last few years. Apart from the fact that I don't like pop music, I don't get the meaning of this competition. Seriously, it's supposed to be a European song competition and almost everybody sings in English! Neither I ever got why they make such a big deal out of it...
  8. Hehe, I'm obsessed with movies too ;)

  9. very good!!!
  10. They all look good, but Cosmic, Ostrich Boys and The Knife Of Never Letting Go seem to be the most interesting, in my opinion
  11. I've only read Shakespeare, but I would love to read more plays in general. Btw, can someone please tell what age he thinks it would be ok for someone to read Tenesse Williams?
  12. the human had sworn to death never to reveal the secret and so...
  13. You should have put this as a spoiler, cause it's a major one Personally, though I believe that Jane Eyre is one of the best books I've ever read, I think that Wuthering Heights was better. In Jane Eyre, I enjoyed writing, characters, etc. but...in WH, Heathcliff and Catherine's expression of their passion was so vivid and violent, yet so real and emotional and I don't think that Charlotte Bronte managed to achieve that in JE. By no means I'm saying that it's not a fantastic book, quite the opposite...I just think it doesn't top WH. That's my opinion

  17. Hey Ben, I checked your TBR list in your forum, and I just wanted to say that Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre were two absolutely brilliant books for me, and I hope that you will enjoy them as much

  20. Very well, despite the fact that most members semm to be adults. Thanks for asking!:smile2:

  21. I just finished it today and I loved it. I really liked the way Harper Lee criticizes racism and prejudice. Despite its serious theme, I found myself laughing at times. Moreover, I thought that Atticus was great, both as a father and as a person. Also, I think that the two major plots were well connected. To finish, I liked Boo Radley very much, and I can't say I'm sorry that he killed Ewell, I found it rather fair, instead
