  1. Well, I've given up on The Lost Symbol - it wasn't holding my attention so I've passed it on to my mum and will go back to it when she's done
  2. I'm liking it so far, not sure if it's as well done as P & P & Zombies which, yes, I have read I've given up on Dan Brown - it's not holding my attention so I've given it to my mum and I'll go back to it when she finishes. Still persevering with The Host and actually starting to enjoy it now!
  3. I'm off to bed to carry on with Sense & Sensibility & Sea Monsters

Brilliant! That's fab you don't have to wait long for Odd Thomas and I'm so happy you're loving Fluke :)

  5. The family of Dashwood had been settled in Sussex since before the Alteration, when the waters of the world grew cold and hateful to the sons of man, and darkness moved on the face of the deep. Sense & Sensibility & Sea Monsters - Jane Austen & Ben H Winters
  6. Yay! Hope you enjoy it
  7. You're welcome lovely Fluke is a good choice though - Herbert is one of my favourite writers!
  8. Short answer - yes
  9. Hello Kelly! Welcome to the forum
  10. I bought this for my 16yo niece who said "I liked it but it wasn't brilliant" and asked me to buy the next book Mirrorstorm She's going to lend Mirrorscape to me next time she's home from school.
  11. There was a lot of fuss over this book when it first came out. The chap is/was a vicar and he was being touted as the next J K Rowling - I've read this one & also Wormwood by him and I wasn't that impressed by either of them. I thought the writing was quite stuffy and it certainly didn't read as well as a Rowling book, JMHO though
  12. One day..... Yay! I am starting to like it more already - I just needed to make myself carry on reading
  13. No need to apologize! Just try again another day I've actually made it past 50 pages on the 5th attempt of trying to read this book so fingers crossed I can finish it now
  14. I found it on YouTube but I'm not sure if it's still on there - will go check and send you a link if it is Yep, it's here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVMpPCSnKJg Here's a better vid made using the official trailers - Sorry, don't know how to do the linky thing!
  15. I'm halfway through The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown and *shock horror* I've made some progress with The Host in that I've actually managed to get past the 50 pages I've always stalled at before
  16. The tracks that are actually on the New Moon soundtrack are being announced tomorrow apparently Not confirmed but the possibles include Muse, Thom Yorke, Bon Iver and Band Of Skulls - Death Cab For Cutie are the only definite band confirmed.
  17. My copy arrived a couple of hours ago but I've not started it yet - will probably start on it this afternoon
  18. I have an A5 notebook that has every book or author I'd like to try written it which I take with me to the bookshop. I always seem to leave with one or two from the 'book' and about five that I've just randomly picked up
  19. I don't lend books out - ever! I learnt the hard way when a so-called friend borrowed a couple of books and ruined them. I wouldn't have minded but one was a book that I'd spent about 3 years trying to find a copy of and the 'friend' knew this I don't really borrow books either as I have an awful habit of just buying my own copy anyway or borrowing something really good that's out of print & impossible to buy and begging said friend to let me keep the book!
  20. I'm about to try reading The Host again Stephanie - I'm determined to get through it I also just got my copy of Sense & Sensibility & Sea Monsters so will start that later too.

    Photo Thread

Yet more amazing photos, Echo - I love the seahawk with the Seattle skyline pic
  22. A friend and I went to watch Dorian Gray - we didn't stay very long We're going back later in the week to see District 9 instead.
  23. That makes me even more glad I left when I did - they're just taking the michael now with that plotline
  24. I have no preference - I love both American & British crime writers. Like catwoman, it's about the writing and the storyline not the nationality of the writer or even the location of the novel
  25. Guess who walked out after 30 minutes? Horrified, the only resemblance to Dorian Gray were the character names I knew we should have gone to see District 9 instead!
