  1. No probs! And yes, you do really need to read the first three as you'll be completely lost otherwise - hope you enjoy them
  2. It's the last in a brilliant series - Night Watch Day Watch Twilight Watch Last Watch
  3. Say no more - I think I did myself a favour! Why oh why can ITV not get it right with WH?
  4. Should I be glad I decided not to bother watching tonight's episode then? Next version of Wuthering Heights is on the big screen in 2010 starring Gemma Arterton and Ed Westwick (Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl :motz:definitely not Heathcliff! ) Will it be any good?
  5. It does doesn't it? The blurb makes it sound exactly like something that I would love! I think I might just go for it anyway - I'll let you know if it's any good
  6. It's out on October 15th - I was lucky enough to get an ARC but I've not read it yet! Anyway, I wanted to know if anyone has read The Affinity Bridge by George Mann? I keep getting recommendations for it and the other 2 in the series - this is the blurb from Amazon. "Welcome to the bizarre and dangerous world of Victorian London, a city teetering on the edge of revolution. Its people are ushering in a new era of technology, dazzled each day by new inventions. Airships soar in the skies over the city, whilst ground trains rumble through the streets and clockwork automatons are programmed to carry out menial tasks in the offices of lawyers, policemen and journalists. But beneath this shiny veneer of progress lurks a sinister side. For this is also a world where lycanthropy is a rampant disease that plagues the dirty whorehouses of Whitechapel, where poltergeist infestations create havoc in old country seats, where cadavers can rise from the dead and where nobody ever goes near the Natural History Museum."
  7. Roast chicken & veggies
  8. It's better but not by much, most people I know turned it off
  9. Cheesy garlic bread - can't beat it for cheering me up
  10. Yes, exactly! He doesn't have the right nuances to play Linton, for want of a better expression
  11. Yes it is. Tom Hardy is okay but I can't get past Andrew Lincoln without thinking of This Life, I've never particularly liked him as an actor. I get that they're never going to faithfully follow the book but I really don't like how they've adapted it this time round.
  12. I thought it seemed really disjointed and switched off about an hour in - think I'll stick to the Laurence Olivier version
  13. Hi Sue, welcome to the forum
  14. It was a case of the right book at the wrong time, I'm sure if I reread the two books now I would probably have a different opinion but at the time I didn't like them too much. Having said that, I just flipped through my book journals and I absolutely loved Gypsy which I must admit I had forgotten was by Brust Mst people I know that have read the Beddor books really liked them and when I was working in a particular chain of bookstores they were very popular!
  15. Sea bass with fennel butter, mange tout & some sort of potato
  16. I've read the first book in the Looking Glass Wars and loved it - I have the others here waiting to be read at some time this century I've read some Brust but not those particular titles, what I have read was okay.
  17. I love Michael Sheen but he doesn't look like my idea of Aro - everyone is going to have their own image of the characters and not everyone is going to be happy
  18. Kind of false advertising though, saying 'Edward's favourite book' when anyone that has read Twilight knows it isn't :) Sorry, I'm picky about things like that!
  19. Hey Burto, welcome to the forum
  20. Jane and Alec look good but Marcus looks like Bill Nighy after a night out and Caius just looks ridiculous! It's pointed out quite bluntly & quite often in the books that Edward doesn't like Wuthering Heights - methinks they could have done their research better!
  21. In the books isn't Aro described as paper white and ancient looking??? Definitely not how I pictured him! Have just seen the Wuthering Heights cover as well - though the whole 'Edward & Bella's favourite book' thing was a joke and actually Edward didn't like WH
  22. I loved the book and actually just got the film to watch - should I not bother? It's one of those books you can reread time & time again and still end up sobbing
  23. Pasta with mushroom sauce & homemade garlic bread
  24. I'm starving after reading that We had asparagus omelette and freshly made crusty bread!
  25. The Chrestomanci books are fabulous - I've read the whole series more than once! The Karen Marie Moning books are slightly adult books about the Fae, vampires and other creatures so whether you like them will depend on your reading taste
