We saw Avatar in 3D Imax last night.. I was NOT very excited about going to see this movie as I tend to away from 'fantastical' films, but I have to say I really enjoyed it. The effects were so amazing! It will be interesting to see where films go from here in the near future.
I also want to see "The Blindside" and "Up."

Dance on your bookshelves? That rings a faint bell but I don't remember the exact convo... care to refresh my memory?
I THINK it was you that had that convo with me when I first joined.. Something abt how comments were always welcome on my book thread, and you asked if you could even dance on it. I was like "Absolutely!" Maybe my memory is all off and it was someone else.. Either way, it was funny! it was someone!!
Glad to see you back around these parts, Bethany! Lots of great titles on your wishlist - I loved the Haddon, as well as the Sittinfeld. I have Twenties Girl on my wishlist too, and oh! I hope you get to read the Sookie books soon. They are definitely one of a kind! Thanks, Peace!! Let me know of you like the Kinsella when you get to it! I tried to track down the first Sookie at the library today, but no luck. Hopefully soon!

We had 2 free credits from Amazon for DVD rentals.. Raja picked one and I had to pick the other. Against my better judgment, I picked My Sister's Keeper.. Not a good pick.

Here's where I'll keep up with all of my reading for 2010!
I completed approximately 48 books (give or take 1 or 2) in 2009... I know I probably won't get through quite as many this year now that I'm working again, but I hope to get through a decent number.
For this year, I want to keep with a bit more info on the books I've read, including:
Author, Title
Number of pages
Date Started, Date Completed
and of course my thoughts on most of the books I read.
I also have joined an in-person book club, so some of my reading list may go astray from my original wishlist to accommodate some of those books as well.
I'll have a few posts/lists at the start of this thread:
Books I've Read (with a small section avail for Attempted Books)
Wishlist
Books I Own (some of these will overlap with the wishlist)
I'll weave in my thoughts on each book as the year progresses and I finish the books. As always, any thoughts/comments always welcome here! As Roxi learned a long time ago, you can even dance on my bookshelf if you're so inclined. (Taking a stab at risque dance is highly suggested... Keep me entertained, people.)
Happy reading, everyone!

I finished Ken Follett's "A Dangerous Fortune" yesterday, and am starting "The Help" today. I also borrowed a mystery by Janet Evanovich (will be my first book of hers) from the library since it was small and light and easy to cart around in my bag.
We got three cookbooks from the bookstore today, too.. We're such suckers for cookbooks!

Hoping to read a bit of Mary Kay Andrew's "The Fixer Upper" tonight.. it's such a fun book, I just haven't had much time to read lately! Hopefully I'll make some progress this evening.
-
At last I managed to finish 'Midwives' ~ Chris Bohjalian without falling asleep last night
I see that one never got any better for ya, Inver. It was one of my faves.. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it as much!
I finished Envy by Anna Godbersen, and have now started
The Fixer Upper by Mary Kay Andrews -- Had lots of reading time on a plane today and will tomorrow, as well.

Finished "an ice cold grave"- the third installment of Charlaine Harrris's Harper Connelly series, and I found this the best of the three so far.
Glad to see you enjoyed this one! It's the only one of the 3 part series that I haven't read, so happy to see it was your favorite
Hope you're well!

Hi Julia, and welcome!
Glad to see you're already getting lots of suggestions and are settling in!
-
Yeeeey! Glad you are liking it, Peace. I'm going to get it soon!

OMG I have no idea how you figured out what was going on in Grave Sight. I really like her Harper books, but my only complaint is that I feel like she uses too many convoluted and confusing family relationships (like.. 'half' step siblings and twice removed cousins?) to make it difficult to figure out the mystery. I much prefer to be confused by good plotting rather than just buried in a mound of confusing family relations.
Now, I promise.. I really DO like the books.. I've read 2 of the 3 and hope to get the 3rd. But I did say that this post was my only COMPLAINT, so don't think I didn't like them.

Thanks, Gyre!

Wow! You did it big between 18 and 25.. Good for you!
Aww.. too bad about your husband not being too keen on flying, but that's okay.. at least you live in the UK where close-by traveling, even by car, can be a great experience.
-
I haven't been to Carmel, but have good to Baltimore.. I visited a friend that lived in Annapolis, and we went into Baltimore for a few days. I love that part of Maryland that's on the water and has all the harbours.. It's just gorgeous! You got to live in a great place.
I'm from Alabama, but have also lived in St. Louis for 6 months, and Manhattan for 1 month and now we're back here for good in NYC again. I haven't lived in too many places in the US yet.. We'll see what happens later in life.
Do you think you're mostly settled in England for a while now?
-
I can't find the picture anywhere on that other thread? Hewp.

LOL.. You said "Nannying -- of course!"
That is great.. Too funny They like their nannies over here!
What part of USA were you in? And where is home for you now?

I transferred to my 2010 list from my 2009 list her book you suggested last year.. I actually checked for her in the library yesterday when milling about, but didn't run across her yet. I'll place a hold soon.
