Welcome!!
What part of the Philippines are you from?
-
So glad to hear all the great feedback on "Little Bee".. I'm about halfway through now and I love it! Glad to know that that probably won't change throughout the rest of my reading.
-
I have!
Never have I ever been on a sailboat.
-
We had hamburgers from a place called "Shake Shack" here in NYC.
-
Has anyone read Little Bee by Chris Cleave?
-
My husband and parents (who are visiting) are watching Rookie Blues.
-
Neither have I.
Never have I ever bungee-jumped.
-
Just finished "The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane" by Katherine Howe, and moving onto "Little Bee" by Chris Cleave.
-
The Pale Blue Eye is up for me after "House Rules" and "Nanny Returns".. those are due back before "TPBE" but I will get to it before too long!
-
Hi, Chrissy!
I just checked out The Pale Blue Eye from the library.. It looks good! It's a Victorian murder mystery and apparently Edgar Allen Poe makes an appearance. It seems neat, Arewenearlythere!
-
I'm reading 'House Rules' right now, so I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it! I'm having a bit of trouble getting into it as much as I have her other ones, but I'm hoping it will pick up soon.

Has anyone read "The Pale Blue Eye" by Louis Bayard?
-
From the library, I checked out "The Pale Blue Eye" by Louis Bayard.

Finished "A Reliable Wife" last night... had the book club for that today... and tomorrow, starting Jodi Picoult's "House Rules"

I didn't love this past week's episode quite as much... I missed 'peppy' songs, and I find April's character a bit annoying and useless. She pops in for a week, then pops out for 3-4 weeks, and I can't really see the impact of her character on the storylines.
I do LOVE the twist
between Kurt and Finn's parents
, though! I feel so bad for Kurt watching it, but I think it could be the start of something great in terms of plot.

Starting "A Reliable Wife" by Patrick Goolrick.
-
I am!
And dear goodness, please do NOT worry about starting ATSS... Take your time, start it when you can, and don't fret. I won't mind if you don't get to it until 6 months from now, I swear! I'm not in any rush here

I'm about 3/4 through "Year of Wonders" that CaliLily sent through the US book ring. It's taking me a while because work has been super intense, but it's a great read and I'm enjoying it!
-
Started "Project Jennifer" by Jill Amy Rosenblatt last night for my upcoming book club pick.. Had to read quickly since the meeting is Wednesday, so I just finished it!
Will start "Year of Wonders" soon.

At the used bookstore today, picked up:
Patricia Cornwell - All That Remains
Richard Montanari - Merciless
We Need to Talk about Kevin - Lionel Shriver (would be a re-read)
and Raja got one too.. forgot what that one was. Poor soul will probably take a year to pick it up, but for $1, whatever! We got all 4 books for $4.18!
My excitement waned slightly when I got home and realized the Montanari book is also called "Broken Angels" and I've already read it. Ah, well... if anyone shows interest in participating in a US book ring, I'll offer it up there, as well as my copy of WNTTAK since I've read it and I just bought it so I'd have my own copy in case Raja ever wants to read it.

I kinda like the song! (Don't hate....)
-
Let me know how you fare with it if you think about it.. Post back here with some thoughts once you're into it. I have it sitting on my nightstand and have been going back and forth just like you.
-
You may could try "Shutter Island".. I haven't read the book, just recently saw the movie, but it has a bit of spooki-ness to it. Or I just checked one out called "The Little Stranger" by Sarah Waters that's supposed to be pretty spooky.
-
Oh good book, very creepy. The case was of great interest to Charles Dickens and Wilkie Collins apparently.
The intro talks about some of the authors influenced by the case.. Very interesting! I'm excited to read this one!

I'm reading "The Westies" by TJ English.
Next up.. "Reading Lolita in Tehran"
Followed by "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"
That's the plan anyway... the (real-life) book club may throw one in there somewhere, but this is the plan for now!
