  1. Enjoy Kate Morton. I have only read 'The Forgotten Garden' so far but I loved it.

I read "The House at Riverton" and loved it, and have "The Forgotten Garden" on my list.. So happy to hear you liked it! Lots of people I've talked with about it like it even more than THAR.

  2. I did finally finish Marian Keyes- The other side of the story which took a few weeks in the end. Im now about a third of the way through My sisters Keeper- Jodi Picoult.

Loved both of these :D I'm jealous you're reading them for the first time! :D

I'm about half way through Kiss Of Evil now and have just discovered it's the 2nd in a series  I really hate it when that happens :motz:As I'm actually enjoying it, I'm gonna go ahead and finish it and just hope it doesn't spoil the first book for me :D

I did this SAME thing with his other series.. Read the 2nd one first. It was all ok in the end, so I bet you'll be just fine, too!

I read about 30 more pages of The Help while at the gym tonight.. Will read some more before bedtime.

  3. I also was disappointed with "Chasing Harry Winston".. couldn't even get through half of it. I liked her other 2 similar novels much better, but can't say I'd run out and buy/borrow any future novels she writes. "Chasing..." just put me off it. :)

  4. Jodi Picoult - Nineteen Minutes

Marian Keyes - The Brightest Star in the Sky

Loved this Picoult book.. one of my favorites of hers.

Also, so happy I ran across your list as I had no idea Keyes had another due out here in the US soon. I checked and it comes out in Feb here.. I'll go ahead and add it to my list so I don't forget to track it down then.

Sounds like you have some good reading ahead of you. :)

  5. Oh I know! Never say never! I wouldn't move the kids at this stage though, who knows? Maybe when they're older :)

Nice to see you back btw :)

You would love it here, Charm, I know it! I'm determined to move east one day, so who knows, maybe we'll end up there at the same time! :D

    Thanks, Charm! :)

Great!.. so it's decided.. as soon as the tots are older, you and Peace will both be moving to the East coast. This works out well for me.

  6. That worried me a bit too, and my worry was confirmed when you mentioned it just now, Noll! I just checked to be sure, and they DO have them here.. yey!! The benefit of having the New York Public Library system carry so many int'l authors has really paid off for me already. :)

  7. Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte

    The Surgeon - Tess Gerritson

A Thousand Splendid Suns - Khaled Hosseini

    Rachel's Holiday - Marian Keyes

    The Luxe - Anna Godbersen

The House at Riverton - Kate Morton

I loved all of these, Dan! I hope you enjoy them, too. :) I can't wait to see what you think!

"The Outcast" is also on my list. So many books to read.. I'll never make it through them all. :)

  8. These two seem to be calling to me :)The Kite Runner - Khaled Hosseini or The First Casualty - Ben Elton, both authors are new to me.

thank you  I`ve got A Thousand Splendid Suns on the shelf as well, maybe I`ll go for that one! :)

Oh Pip! You have some great books ahead.. These were both so wonderful, IMO. I'm very excited for you. :)

I hope to get a few pages read before I go to bed.. probably start reading more of The Help in half an our so I'll have about an hr of reading time before time to sleep. :D

  9. Thanks for this review, Janet! I'm going to add this book to my wishlist so I don't forget to borrow it from the library at some point. Very compelling review you gave. :) I'm so glad you enjoyed your read!

I discovered earlier that I'm descended from a Salem woman who was accused of being a witch but was later aquitted, and it's all so fascinating!

That really IS fascinating, Peace! What a great subject for you to research more and more.. So interesting for you. :)

  10. Anyone out there read A Dangerous Fortune by Ken Follett?

i just finished it up 2 days ago and was hoping someone else had read it. :) (I know this thread is technically for books you're THINKING about reading, but it seemed the most appropriate spot to check quickly, since I did a search and found no one.)

  11. Happy to see you have 2 unread Miriam Keyes' on there! I hope you enjoy them mucho :)

Also, if it helps in any way, you have "My Best Friend's Girl" listed twice on your list.. Not sure if you're keeping any counts, but wanted to pass along just in case you were!

Happy, happy reading.. you have some great books there! ;)

  12. Can't say it's fantastic but I'm plodding on with it, gone to far to give up now! I much prefer The Devil Wears Prada and I haven't got round to Everyone Worth Knowing yet.

Glad to hear it wasn't just me on this one. :) "Everyone Worth Knowing" was much better to me than this one, so you can hold out hope for that one at least!

  13. I'm going to add her to my list of authors to check out this year... I haven't been reading quite as much chick-lit lately, but it sounds like this could fit right in nicely amongst the other things I've been sifting through. :)

Thanks for the time to post the reviews, Nollaig, and for your input too, Chesil.. I'll definitely be picking up one of hers if I can locate it in the library here. ;)
