Hi and welcome, Rachel!

I THINK I am pasting this link right.. I haven't done it on this board ever somehow, so I'm sorry if it doesn't work for you. Someone else will be along shortly that will be able to answer your question exactly, but until a mod or someone more familiar makes it here, you can probably find a lot of questions to your answers there on that link.

Wow! That's going to be a review I'll read when you get it all wrapped up Friday when you're back.. Sounds like it could be one of your favorites.
*muttering to self* Must get book soon.. Must..

I'm done with 2 of the 3 books from The Luxe series by Anna Godbersen, and they're really fun. Starting the 3rd today, so as long as it's not awful, I feel comfortable saying the series is really good, if you don't mind a bit of chick lit.

They are yuuummmy!
It was my first try making them so I was really happy they turned out ok.. I'm sure we'll be repeating that recipe more than once.

Ok catching up after the move! Unfortunately not a lot of reading has taken place over the past month since it was so crazy, but we are settled in and I've been able to resume a bit of reading.
First off, I had to leave "The Forgotten Garden" by Kate Morton back in Hong Kong-- I just didn't have the time to really start it, and I'd borrowed it from a friend, so I left it behind. I DO plan to get it again soon, though.. It was great from the little bit I actually got to read.
I did get to get the 2nd in the Luxe series by Anna Godbersen, and made my way through it over the past week.
Mini Review of Rumors by Anna Godbersen
Synopsis: *I'm spoiler-tagging it because even though it's from the back of the book, it does give away some bits from the first book.*
After bidding good-bye to New York's brightest star, Elizabeth Holland, rumors continue to fly about her untimely demise.
All eyes are on those closest to the dearly departed: her mischievous sister, Diana, now the family's only hope for redemption; New York's most notorious cad, Henry Schoon-maker, the flame Elizabeth never extinguished; the seductive Penelope Hayes, poised to claim all that her best friend left behind

Ahhh glad to see you liked "We Need to Talk about Kevin." I read this about 6 months ago or so and loved it! I'm in the minority around here on it though, so happy to see another reader in favor of the book to join us few who really liked it.
Also loved "A Thousand Splendid Suns".. I did the same thing and thought about the characters for days afterward. Such a wonderful story!
-
That was funny, you guys.
Peace, definitely a great idea.. and of course you must let me know how you get on with it. I'm sure you're going to love it! Hopefully I can get my hands on it really soon, too.
-
I MUST get my hands on this "Dog in the Night Time" book soon.. I've been wanting it forever and just haven't gotten it -- The HK libraries were always out of it! I'm going to get a library card this wkend and hopefully they'll have it
Glad to see you are liking it, Ben.

Last night, it was scallops in garlic butter with a side of fusili tuna pasta salad.
Tonight its parsley chicken with pasta.. a new recipe I'm trying. Let's hope it's good!

I keep getting recommended Malorie Blackman's books but I've never seen her books before.
Lots of people on here really love them! You should give them a try.. maybe see if your local library has them since you haven't seen them while you're out and about before?
I read the first one and thought it was pretty good -- It didn't compel me to read the others in the series, but that's just me and I'm definitely in the minority around here! Still was pretty good though.
Finishes "Rumors" by Anna Godbersen yesterday.. Probably go straight into "Envy" by the same author today.
-
Bless it.. Pick your battles, WB. Kinda ridiculous?

Welcome to BCF!!

I hope so! I've only hit up one so far, but I have a few others on a list to check out, and surely I'll stumble upon others like you said. Should be fun! You know where else I've found great books for cheaper? TJ Maxx and Marshall's! -- Mostly cookbooks and coffee table books, things like that .. but quite the selection and lots of discounts.

Hi and welcome, jeni!
You should find tons of suggestions here..
To start with, maybe you could look at the other books from Charlaine Harris that aren't in the Sookie series? I myself haven't read the Sookie books, but have read 2 of the 3 from the "Grave Sight" series and they are really good!
I'm sure you'll get lots more suggestions and hopefully you'll find what's good for you to read next. Welcome!

I've got about 80 pages left in "Rumors" by Anna Godbersen.. should finish it pretty easily today or tomorrow.
I also went to a used bookstore here that I looked up online before we moved, and found some great super old classics for $1 !! Raja was bored and rushing me, so I only managed to snag "Little Women" and "Oliver Twist" but they're really old and look so full of character.. I love it! Bargains
Oh, and I downloaded the first two chapters of "Wuthering Heights" as a free audiobook .. Going to listen to that while I'm on the elliptical later today.
-
*sigh* No time to read today, either.. Just too busy right now! Hopefully I"ll have some free time soon and can catch back up.
Catwoman -- Super excited you're getting to come to the States to see your OH! Good for you! Glad you're all stocked up on books and ready to read on the plane, too.. sounds fun

Thanks for the link to that site, Bethany! I also visit allrecipes.com, and they have baking and regular cooking recipes. The thing I like about that site is that people can comment on all the recipes and give suggestions about how to tweak them to make them better. I found my excellent hummus recipe on that site!
Ooh I like that site, too.. I've been on there quite a bit! They have some yummy things listed there
-
I've been hearing lots of good things about this book lately.. I have to admit I saw it in a shop, read the blurb, and put it back down. Maybe I'll give it a go since everyone really seems to love it.
Thanks for the review, Readwine!

Mmm I can't wait to try out that cake recipe when my baking pans get here this week, Ceinwenn! I've been baking up a storm lately .. Now if my cake pans will arrive, I can do more than just cookies and cupcakes, although those are lovely of course.
For some other good recipes, one of my favorite sites just listed 4 yummy desserts.. They look yummy and pretty easy!
-
Ohhh Inver! I see you're reading "Midwives" .. This is one of my absolute favorites! How are you liking it so far?
-
Haven't been able to do much reading lately, but hopefully that will change now that we're settling in after the move!
I'm reading Rumours by Anna Godbersen.. 2nd one in the Luxe series. Really good so far.

lol.. I think that's part of it! I have no kids, nor a clock ticking away! Lots of good moms on this forum, so understandably, could be a bit jarring for them... You are right.
