Angels and Demons is epic. It should have been made a film before the Da Vinci Code. The Da Vinci Code caused mass hysteria by publicising religious 'facts' (some of which are already accepted loosely by scholars ANYWAY so why the hubub I don't know) - as factual history. Angels and Demons is not about ideas within religion, it is about science versus religion. It is SO much better. The only bad thing about Dan Brown is once you've read one book, you've read them all, in terms of characters and style. Fortunately the subject matter of Angels and Demons makes it epic enough to override that.

No I haven't actually, I've heard about it but I've heard there were a few related stories by different authors - I was reluctant because obviously they're written by unrelated people as far as I'm aware. I would love to read it though!

Ohh yeah the other books I loved as a child were the three Faraway tree books by Enid Blyton. I loved those books, still do.

Woah I didn't know anything about that sequel! Awesome!!!! I adore PotO, it IS my favourite musical and one of my favourite stories in general.

I want to go to Scotland. I have a serious thing for Scottish accents. I had a scottish friend and I loved her accent.

I thought I was capable of not buying a book, but I went into one bookshop today and came out with three classics, and then went to TESCO, not even a bookshop but TESCO! and came out with a new release. Whoops.

I remember my parents reading to me from a big blue book, with 1001 short stories in it. I also remember being in Junior Infants (so I was maybe 4) and having a 'Bring A Book To School' day - I brought Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree. And my next memory after that is when I was around the same age, my two favourite books from the school library - 'The Discontented Pony' and 'Shy Little Kitten's Secret Place.' After that, when I was closer to 9 or 10, I remember reading 'The Castle In The Attic' and its sequel 'Battle For The Castle.' I adored Sir Simon. I'd love to read all those books again.

I don't know why. I used to just call them buns, but due to the apparant hilarity of expressions involving the words 'my buns' I started calling them Queen Cakes. Twas invoked by the childishness of the masses.

Ahahaha awesome. Yeah to be fair Kerry is a beautiful county. I've got Rossbeigh Beach 20 minutes one way, Killarney 20 minutes another way, and I'm in a neat little valley near the mountains. I like the city too though. Civilisation is a Good Thing.

Oh don't get me wrong, its superb. The film was fantastic and the book was very effective in its purpose. Things like that just don't disturb me easily =P

I'm the only Republic of Ireland person here! That doesn't surprise me. The Republic is a bit cut off from the technological world - the only Irish peeps I've ever met online are Northern Irish people. No idea why that is. Anyway yes, I'm a born and raised West Ireland country cail

I think what appeals to me so much about books is this: With a book, an author is given a blank canvas upon which they can create ANYTHING. Absolutely anything, and many in my preferred genres (fantasy/sci-fi/supernatural) these things include things beyond the creation of nature itself in reality. Like Oscar Wilde said in A Picture Of Dorian Gray, a portrait is a painting not of the sitter, but of the artist, one may pour 'too much of one's own soul' into it. The same applies to me in books. If you can find something you also see yourself in, within the boundless limits of essentially another person's imagination, it will give you a feeling of connection with someone or something outside yourself. /ramble.

I usually look for originality in ideas... and if its a trilogy that helps. I adore trilogies.

Yup two chances, granted the books are notably different, before I decide that its just not going to happen.

Yeah I read the book recently, and I didn't think it was disturbing. The fim didn't bother me either. Admittedly, the language annoyed me to no end. I thought it was really clever and I got the point, but it annoyed me.

They do look yummy!! I love baking fairy cakes, they're the one thing I can bake well.

I like everything. Guns N Roses, Led Zeppelin, Goo Goo Dolls, My Chemical Romance, Andrew McMahon/Jack's Mannequin, The Used, Smashing Pumpkins, Elton John, McFly, Marylin Manson does the best covers EVER, Evanescence, The Verve, Rihanna, The Darkness, Rod Stewart, Meat Loaf..... the list goes on. I love all heavy/alternative rock music (and adore stadium rock, Van Halen, Whitesnake etc) Most indie, some pop, some metal, most alternative, some emo, some classical etc.

I like musicals on stage more than on tv.... I love Mary Poppins though. My favourite stage musical is Phantom Of The Opera - saw it in London a couple of years back and I loved it. Also love the book, and the movie isn't great, but its bearable.

I just bought books on Amazon.com (.co.uk didn't have them) and apparently they won't be here til about February 11th! I mean, I know its slow coz its cheap but really!! Thats a ridiculous amount of time!

So could I, especially my college books!! I have a Psychology book that cost me €60, and I could get about €45 back on it coz its in great condition, but I adore Psychology and its a superb book so I want it to read!

I don't tend to lend things to people, I don't know anyone who reads, and books are about all I have worth lending. That said, I know myself that if I hand something out, I want it back in the exact condition I gave it in. Similarly, I'm more careful with other people's possessions than I am with my own.
