  1. Yummy, Kreader (< without that comma, that would have had an entirely different meaning! ) I have just had a cheese, pickle and cucumber baguette. It was lovely.
  2. That prequel - Oh My!!!!
  3. I have! Never have I ever made my own sausages.
  4. I have not read this book, although I do have a few of her boos on my book shelf waiting to be read. A great site that can help to find similar authors is called Literature Map. If you follow the link, you will see Le Guin's name in the middle and lots of author names surrounding it. The closer the name to hers, the most similar the type of books written!
  5. That's great news muggle.
  6. So all is well with you muggle not? I'm glad Super Doc is not unhappy with your little cuddlesome coverage.
  7. Happy Birthday. Have a happy and sunshiney day. X

  8. I have (Hong Kong). Never have I ever managed to dive properly into deep water. (Belly flop, yes. Dive, no)
  9. Watching and reading the reports has been heart breaking. So much devastation. You wonder where the heck a country begins in getting sorted.
  10. Hello Green, Happy Birthday! Have a wonderful day. X

  11. You and me both, sister!
  12. Happy Birthday Mac. Enjoy your day. : )

  13. If you look on the site fantastic fiction under his name you can find a listing for his books in publication order. I would probably read them in order that way. Aside from that, only another Richard Stark fan can help you.
  14. I thought that 'The Cry' looked enticing, so toddled off to amazon just now, only to discover I had bought it for 99p some weeks ago! It's great to have forgotten a purchase the to be reminded like that. Your review has made me push the book up the virtual tower of books on my kindle.
  15. A Super Doctor? Now that is a title you want your doctor to have! I hope it all goes well muggle. Now what can you do between now and next Wednesday to burn off those few pounds and lower those sugars? Muggle Boot Camp?
  16. So you managed to combine book abuse and cat scaring in one action? If the cat figures out what made you fall down the stairs you may have to hide your books!
  17. That's the second offer I have received on this thread - I'm such a saddo. Thanks, but no thanks Chalie, I love wracking my brain with them, and it would probably take me days to come up with a quote to post that I like.
  18. Nooo, I read it too late! I popped in earlier, but thought "Oh, I check out the new one later" I wudda known this one. *Hangs head in shame and stumbles from the thread*
  19. The kayak owl is now my laptop's backdrop!
  20. Books and owls on their site. I love them already.
  21. I know the series might not be to everyone's taste. but I do love it. It is an absorbing and complete universe into which I can dive. The first book, Magyk was bought when we were on holiday in the West Highlands of Scotland many years ago. We had popped into a local supermarket, and as always I perused their book section. The cover design caught my eye ,looking like an old bound leather book, and I fell in love. They have altered the design since then, although they have fortunately always made sure that some copies in the style of the original book are also produced.
  22. Have a lovely birthday CS. I hope all is well. X

  23. An awful lot of people sign up and in their first posts mention an obscure or very recently published book, only to disappear into the internet fog. It then turns out that they are associated with / are the author or something to do with a publishing house. Occasionally someone without deceptive intent can get caught in the net. In answer to the query; I can thoroughly recommend the two mentioned by gardengirl above, The Regeneration Trilogy by Pat Barker Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks Other well known ones would include; All Quiet On The Western Front by Erich Remarque A Farewell To Arms by Ernest Hemingway Parade's End by Ford Maddox Ford Goodbye To All That by Robert Graves (a memoir)
  24. What does bison taste like? I'm imagining a wild boar kind of flavour.
