I discovered H.O.N.Y. on Facebook a little while ago after it was referenced in a newspaper article, and you are absolutely right with your assessment! It feels like a microcosm for the rest of the world.

Brilliant reviews wordsgood, thought provoking stuff. I have put both of these books onto my wishlist. Iran and the impact of it's 'revolution' has always fascinated (I wish I could think of a better word) me, and this personal account, especially with the second book really appeals.

Yes, I have! It is so good to have those little cross over bits. I know what you mean about being 'all Clare'd out for a bit'. It's great to lose yourself in the Shadow hunter universe for a while, but nice to read other things afterward.

I haven't read it, but could it possibly be 'The Great Gatsby'?

Great review, and I agree totally with it! It is a different pace, with that shift of focus for all the characters.

Immediately I would suggest the authors Marge Piercy or Toni Morrison. Often heart breaking, both authors have really well depicted female characters. Piercy's 'Gone To Soldiers' is a personal favourite that I can thoroughly recommend, although it can be a bit difficult to get hold of. Young adult titles I would include Beth Revis' 'Across The Universe' - you don't get much trickier situations than this young lady faces! Another brilliant series with one of my favourite characters is the Japser Fforde Thursday Next series, starting with 'The Eyre Affair'. I'll have a think on this, and see what else I can recommend.
