Breakfast News with my husband. He keeps shouting at the television in disgust, so I am enjoying this enormously!

Oh Muggle, that sounds so wonderful, shall we swap holidays next year? Glad that you are healing up ok Peacefield, and on a motherly note make sure you so what the doctor says! We had a new fridge freezer delivered today, only to discover that the gap is was supposed to fit into was a tad slimmer at the bottom (unlike me ). 20 minutes of girly-macho shuffling, and some rather unladylike swearing and I have managed to get the darned thing to fit. God help us if we ever have to move it out of the gap in the future!

Thanks everyone, it truly was wonderful. I am a lucky lucky bunny! Talisman, your Icelandic plans are wonderful, I look forward to hearing all about the Northern Lights - magical.

Husband and I got home today from our week of roaming around. We left last Tuesday and drove down through France, stopping for lunch in Luxembourg. We stayed overnight near the Swiss border, and after darting into Germany (for the heck of it) headed through Switzerland via the San Gotthard Pass - a fabulously high and winding road with fantastic views and cows wearing huge cow bells. :DWe spent five days dashing about bits of northern Italy (mainly Lake Garda), taking boat trips, a cable car ride and a couple of scenic railway journeys and enjoying some wonderful long walks and delightful meals. We are tired and happy, and feel as though we have been away from our life for months. Such a wonderful time - I can't believe how lucky I am. All I can add is that everyone we encountered (aside from one rude woman at an Italian railway station) were engaging, enlightening, fun and helpful - it's truly amazing how a few shared words can create a whole conversation between people. So many smiles.

I guess it's a matter of baby steps with your sister Talisman. Good luck going forward with it all, and I'm so glad that Coran is such a support in this. Peacefield, I can't believe it has been a year - so many changes for you and your family. I'm glad that your Mum is doing ok. Big hugs and lots of healing vibes for your surgery. You are always missed when you are not around. Good luck with your move Kell, remember to have proper down time - it's always too easy to do too much when there is so much to be done! We are away for a week, driving to Italy. Husband desperately wanted to go again this year, and I wasn't about to argue! I have my French, German & Italian phrase books and dictionaries (pocket sized!), my phrase sheets (please, thank you, sorry, toilet and 1 - 10!) and a fully charged kindle. I am ready! Eleonora, I started reading your post, and thought "Oh well done!" , then I read the rest. Such a horrible situation to experience, but especially at night. I hope you and your doctor can find a way to manage it if a cure isn't possible. Take very good care of yourself.
