  1. I have read both Cassandra Clare series and enjoyed them. The Infernal Devices is probably best read before the Mortal Instruments, but it's not essential. I saw the film, but didn't like all the changes they made, although it looked good.
  2. Eggs (yep me too!) Tomatoes (in all their forms - fresh, tinned, seived) Rice Potatoes Chicken Fish Leeks Celery Swede Onion Butter Bananas Apples Some kind of citrus fruit (orange, clementine, tangerine) Tea and milk Avocado
  3. I haven't read much of it, but it combines history, geography, and biography from the earliest records of Magic in England up until present day. There are panels throughout that highlights a person, a book or an event relevant to that chapter. A dip in book for sure, but it seems pretty thorough in it's approach and I am looking forward to working my way through it.
  4. So long as it's not Olivia Coleman. Great actress, but I don't think a good fit. I saw Maxine Peake's name being touted, and thought that she might be an interesting choice.
  5. I always got the impression they kept wanting to prove he wasn't too old for the role, so he was always a little too manic at times, dashing here and there, with limbs flying about. Then there was the way the series frequently became CLARA and the Doctor on too many occasions. Let the speculation of a replacement begin!
  6. No reading of novels in recent weeks, but I have been dipping into a few reference books; The Times History of The World In Maps The Illustrated A-Z of Classic Mythology The Book Of English Magic The Worshipful Company Of Gardeners of London (1890 - 1960) My book reading mojo is super low, but these books have been filling the gap before I can climb into my next read.
  7. Peter Capaldi is leaving the Tardis after this series. I'm not sure how I feel about it. When I saw the news I just felt neutral about it, neither devastated nor delighted.
  8. I read (and heartily enjoyed) Daniel O'Malley's The Rook, and Stiletto. Thanks for recommending them.
  9. I have read this (many years ago now) and I loved it! Rosemary's Baby by Ira Levin for my year.
  10. Hello Nichlas. I cannot recommend any books, but I did notice that Amazon.co.uk is having a Valentine's Day Sale on kindle books - lots of romance!
  11. I have been watching Class, a 8 part Doctor Who spin off. I only heard of it's existence this week, and so sought the series out. The violence and gore alone makes this NOT for children. It combines imaginative monster-of-the-week with a nifty plot arc. The central characters have been layered and developed and are relatively likeable. If the final couple of episodes work well I would be happy to watch a second series.
  12. John Hurt was such a great actor, The range of roles, and the deep humanity he brought to them. RIP indeed.
  13. Hello BML, and welcome to the forum. Kindle, Kobo, Nook and Cybook etc. are all E Book readers, all pretty similar. If you are thinking of buying an E Reader, I can definitely recommend an Amazon Kindle, I have a KIndle Paperwhite that I love to read with. I checked on my Kindle and the search facility on it can definitely look for quotes. I have a few hundred books stored on my kindle and it was able to find the quote I used quickly, and it gives the location / page number. I have checked out the Fleming book you mentioned, and Amazon UK actually have 2 kindle versions of the book (different publishers I think). Link to Amazon page
  14. Foggy and cold. We managed to hit a high of 1.5 degrees atone point today. Woo Hoo!
  15. Phew, you's back!
  16. That's so shocking, and how terrible for those students. Such a sad situation for all involved.
  17. He is a bit delish isn't he? Not a bad actor either!
  18. It has no bearing for me. If the book appeals then it appeals. I love immersing myself in my reading, so a long well written book or a good series allows me to lose myself.
  19. Glad to read that Timeless is being enjoyed. I've got the episodes waiting for me. Currently watching The Chase.
  20. Raven, where fore art thou? It's been too long since you were here.
