  1. When I heard the audio version of Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie, read by the wonderful Lyndam Gregory, it was a sublime delight.
  2. I enjoyed all three, I thought they were progressively imaginative and touching, and enabled the central characters to develop. They touched upon the notions of belief, loyalty, self and soul. Throw in a few angels and I am delighted!
  3. I am so happy at this news. Very happy. Very, very happy.
  4. I found this interesting article on the BBC website and thought I would post it here. Several Fascinating Facts About Libraries
  5. It sounds like an Alan Watts style of book. You could perhaps have a look at his site here, or wiki him and see if any of his works ring a bell. Good luck.
  6. The illustrated one is quite risqué, I've heard.
  7. It's always good to be reminded that I am not alone in my complete lack of self control when someone has recommended a book series!
  8. What a forward thinking idea. You can immediately see how the Judge was influenced by her parents there.
  9. Thanks for sharing the link Chesil. I knew one or two of them, but had no idea about the Neil Gaiman (just how cool is that?) nor the LOTR streets. Isn't there also a Treacle Mine Road somewhere about, relating to Terry Pratchett's Discworld series?
  10. I NEED A P!
  11. Oh, I do like these. I may inch one myself!
  12. Still pondering. This is where I am at with this profile title change, but could also be a suggestion! There are lots of muggle possibilities, depending on which direction one wants to take, especially bearing in mind that he is a muggle NOT. Struggle with a muggle. 13. What others are you still seeking VF? We could all keep an eye out for them. Enjoy your reading this year.
  14. Lovely idea MrCat.
  15. The pilot episode of DC's Legends of Tomorrow.
  16. Wet 'n' Windy!
  17. But surely the spatula enables you to efficiently gather the bowl contents, thus enabling a quicker 'disposal' via licking?
  18. Try and stay in touch Ben, even if it's infrequent. Take care.
  19. My Breville stick / hand blender. I had to replace my old one that had halted through exhaustion! This new one comes with a chopper thingummybob. that I have found really useful too. The only other thing that I would hate to be without (aside from my brightly coloured mixing bowls) is a large rounded shaped hard plastic scraper that I use for scraping from bowls and off boards. I also use it to scrape soft 'gumf' from saucepans before washing them (porridge, cheese sauce).
  20. My eyes may have taken on a teary aspect too while reading The Shepherd's Crown. It was hard not to. I look forward to reading your review.
  21. I need so little encouragement to buy more books.
  22. A garlic, mushroom and potato bake. Maybe with a dash of ketchup.
  23. I like the look of the series. Oh dear, I feel a book purchase coming on....... Thanks for the recommendation.
  24. Criminal Minds. A bit of mindless violence followed by predictable investigating. Gotta love tv murders!
