  1. Nicely rounded assessment of the episode and implications Raven.
  2. We have been invited out to a barbeque tonight. Outside in a lovely garden, someone else cooking, and not being allowed to help clear up. Yep, I think I can cope!
  3. I have just had a wonderful homemade pork, chicken and mushroom risotto made by my son. Yummy.
  4. The site, fantasticfiction.co.uk is a really good site to find similar books / authors. There were a few listed under Kate Jacobs.
  5. I'll take your "Wow", wrap it up in a "Yowzer" and double dip it into some chilli infused "Holy Cr*p that's fabulous!"
  6. I adore him! I did then, I do now. My big brother had a friend who looked and behaved just like him and I would get tongue tied anytime I was around him.
  7. I can only agree. This mojo charming book just make me want to contact Ms slaughter and let her know she doesn't need to apologise anymore ~ All is forgiven! Great review CW, and a pleasure to agree with.
  8. Finished 'Genesis' by Karin Slaughter. I loved the cross over between the Sara Linton/Grant County series and the (wonderful) Will Trent series. This is the first book I have managed to read since February. My mojo is finally home!
  9. I think you may be right. I'm going to do a completely unscientific poll amongst friends and family and see how it is for them. p.s. I changed the title to the one you wanted.
  10. My hubby offered to have a two hour 'stop-over' there on our way home from North Wales the other week. To his utter surprise I said "No" ~ as a couple of hours just wouldn't be long enough, and it would hurt to leave! I plan at the very least to have an overnight visit there at some stage. I see it as me in comfy clothing, with lots of dosh and extra bags, travelling home with the face ache that comes with smugness of purchase. We should have a BCF conference there, it would be the perfect location!
  11. I have book activity to report, (beyond buying them!) I am 80 pages into Karin Slaughter's 'Genesis'. I'm a'reading a book again!!!!!!! Yippee! I am beyond delighted. All the books I will now be able to read. It's been almost three months. Big huge phew with knobs and bells on! As a little aside, British Bookshops/Sussex Stationers are selling a beautiful hardback of the complete and unabridged 'Paradise Lost', with illustrations by Gustave Dore. It is wonderful. The cost?
  12. I'm with you on this. You have mentally prepared your self for at least another 30 pages and Pfft! it's suddenly over.
  13. As I recall, an excellent and classic WW episode.
  14. Hell's Kitchen USA ~ The Final
  15. Hello George, and welcome to the forum. Karin Slaughter's Grant County (starting with 'Blindsighted') or Will Trent (starting with 'Triptych') series are grippingly good. Val McDermid is a brilliant writer who has written a range of stand alones, and series books. Sebastian Fitzek's 'Therapy' was a book that completely blew me away earlier this year, and I can thoroughly recommend it. On the forum we have a '20 Books Everyone Should Read' thread, where members have listed their top 5 recommendations, and would be worth a look into. Aside from that I would just take a stroll around the forum, and see what other are raving about.
  16. I bought 'Genesis' by Karin Slaughter in paperback today. Another book to add to the T-B-R-when-mojo-eventually-returns. I'm hoping that this might be the missing mojo re calling book. My fingers are firmly crossed.
  17. I'm currently watching 'Star Trek'. So far so good. ETA Really enjoyed this ~ a really worthy 'prequel', despite some little time/space paradox issues.
  18. My husband jokes about my book obsession, but genuinely has no issue with it. As with all things including books, I'm an economical wifey, so there is little room to complain.
  19. A tad harsh perhaps?
  20. Yippee, there are a few of us here that read on through to the end rather than leaping ahead. A small, but select band of readers.
  21. Her writing is just so good! I should add that no one gives us a 'hero' like Linda, prepare to sigh, cry and laugh. I am usually drawn to gritty crime, but my head was turned by these three. Chick lit she ain't. She also happens to be a member of the forum.
  22. Phew, welcome fellow each-page-in-turn person! I'm no longer alone in my page turning.
  23. I think I may stand sit alone as the only person who has never even considered looking at the last page until I got there. I gotta say, it's a little lonely.
  24. I've not read any Kate Morton, but I wondered if something like this book, 'A Lifetime Burning' by Linda Gillard might appeal to you? Linda is a fantastic writer, one I recommend to anyone who will listen. She has written two other books, 'Emotional Geology', and 'Star Gazing' that I can also wholeheartedly recommend.
