  1. A signed copy of William Hussy's 'Witchfinder ~Dawn Of The Demontide' arrived today. It looks so good. This may be my mojo busting book. *gulp*
  2. Marge Piercy's 'Gone To Soldiers' is a book I have recommended a number of times on the forum. It's a book that weaves together the lives of many different women during WW2, with some sections devoted those involved with the French Resistance. It's a very good book.
  3. I keep coming back to Dementors, but something just doesn't work anymore with them being his Boggart. In DH he not only deals with them at the Ministry, but he also has that moment as he enters the forest where he makes peace with the four of significance (I'm being cryptic!). Would the feeling the Dementors give him still have such a hold? I agree that definitely after DH it wouldn't be Voldemort, but I don't believe it would have been before either. His match with the Big V was inevitable, which I think would remove the aspect of fear that Boggarts work off of. I think it must be loss of loved ones, in the same way as Mrs. Weasley. It seems the most logical, although I wonder if the answer is out there. I'm going to write to JK Rowling! I may have to sign it love Chrissy aged (42 and 1/2).
  4. I think it's the radio adverts that have tipped the balance for me. Sorry
  5. I was thinking this morning how much he is growing on me.
  6. Mary Wollstonecraft is a writer well worth looking into, her writings as well as her life story. The Boudica series by Manda Scott is a re telling of the legend. She has also written some stand alones and a short series with strong female central characters. Marge Piercy is a writer worthy of exploring, especially her novel 'Gone To Soldiers'. Sara Paretsky has written a whole series based on a believable private investigator, V.I. Warshawski.
  7. I love vibrant teachers that attempt to make some dry subjects come alive for their students, but how on earth could a fake shooting, whether the students were aware or not be justified? I am astounded and horrified. A group of adults decided this was OK? Are you kidding?
  8. I think it depends on the child! There are some I'd willingly put in a tree. What a ridiculous policy to have in the first instance, and to be 'off' with a wonman who does help the child. Oh dear.
  9. Oh, you had to bring up this song. *sigh* I am listening to it right now.
  10. Plain popcorn. I am in a munchy mood today and this has less calories than the many other things I feel like scoffing at the moment!
  11. There is always hope! I now swap books with my former 'can't read -won't read' 24 year old, and he has a varied and exploratory taste in reading material.
  12. Kell, that's utterly gorgeous. She has such a sultry look on her face.
  13. I ordered this yesterday because of this post. Why would I want to watch a heartbreaking film?
  14. The old advert song for diet pepsi went something like, "You can do it, We can help. One calorie, one calorie diet pepsi can help." I always assumed that diet coke would have the same calorific content.
  15. Granted! It will only look good though if you always wear a completely bright red outfit, including a hat, thigh high patent leather boots and all red accessories! I wish the laundry would get itself done.
  16. Is something like this what you meant? I would love to see a picture of a child fascinated by a flower.
  17. Sounds delicious! Chicken roasted and served with a bombay potato style side dish.

  19. Something I learned today is that there are TWO people on this forum I'm not going to take to a posh restaurant! It'll have to be a picnic! I have visions of you cursing while grape juice shoots over your shoulder as you jab frantically at a grape.
  20. The contents of Dumbledore's room. The Mondoshawan key presented to the priest in 'Fifth Element'.
  21. 1) Nollaig make me smile, chuckle and choke on hot drinks on a regular basis. Happy? Oh yes! 2) Pickle is trying too hard to convince us that she isn't a witch. Now where's my ducking stool? 3) I taught myself to crochet when I was six. 4) I once owned a midnight blue Red Or Dead dress that looked utterly gorgeous on me. During one of my many moves, I asked my sister to look after it ~ she wore it, tore it and then gave it away. 5) I love writing poetry. I am lousy at it, but I couldn't care less, it's a great expressive tool.
  22. I'm never taking Abby out to a posh restaurant!
  23. *cough, cough* No excuses ~ we want 3 more facts, and they'd better be good uns! 1) I hate having the soles of my feet touched. 2) My eyes flash black when I am so angry I could explode ~ this doesn't happen often, but I've been told it's very effective! 3) The colour of my wedding dress was a turquoise blue. 4) I never wear make up. 5) I woud love to have a professional manicure, despite keeping very short nails.
  24. Could someone find me a picture of a pirate swinging from one ship to another? PS Inver that is fabulous! An owl and a penguin ~ wow!
