  1. Don't worry too much about knowing in advance, because the way things play out is really the appeal, not the events themselves.
  2. Tricky one, as it depends upon my mood..............................Times New Roman! Pasta OR Rice?
  3. Beatles Sculpture OR Oil painting?
  4. I'm so jealous Abby! I wish I could see them for the first time again. They are something different. Great characters, laughter, tears, frustration, fabulous cultural references, family dramas, friendships, love, community.....it has the lot! Enjoy.
  5. James Patterson's 'Maximum Ride' series (you can find a list of them here ~ 4th block down) started off really well, but I haven't read the later ones. He does pretty good action thrillers, so they might be worth a look. Phillip Pulman's 'His Dark Materials Trilogy' (3rd block down) I can always recommend, a brilliant trio of books with more action adventure than you could shake a stick at. Terry Pratchett's Tiffany Aching series, 'The Wee Free Men', 'A Hat Full Of Sky' and 'Wintersmith', are just wonderful and well worth a read. He has a 4th in the series coming out this year, 'I Shall Wear Midnight'. I hope you find a good read for yourself soon, and you must come and tell us what you have been reading!
  6. I have no idea, and just managed to have an argument with my husband about it! He wanted to know what the options were, and when I gave them he said I was confusing him! So once I have decided what to cook I will go ahead and do it without further recourse to stroppy husband.
  7. I have a similar thing, but within my family instead. I just lurve the fact that I'm invisible and unachieving to them sometimes!
  8. I'm so glad to hera that someone else thinks these are disturbing little ads. They are creepy.
  9. Crusty white bread. Sticky tape OR PVA glue?
  10. Oh thank goodness you are in Birmingham, as I will be able to tell my nephew that Ben 10 is nearby!
  11. Try here. Good luck.
  12. I do hope that's a darkly comic film I just haven't heard of that you are watching there JCW! I am watching 'America's Next Top Model' ~ because I love to hate it.
  13. Flats Sequins OR Feathers?
  14. Wholewheat pasta with a sundried tomato sauce and chopped up sausage.
  15. Dust. .....
  16. Embarassing Bodies.
  17. You've inspired me Joe, I'm going to sign out and get some garlic bread out of the freezer! Thank you!
  18. Beacons were lit along the length of Hadrian's Wall in the UK this weekend. I thought this was a terrific event, just wish I could have attended.
  19. You've turned my head with that CaliLily. Maybe it's a matter of a book proffering something to it's page turner, and the text extracting something from the reader in return, an exchange that fundamentally affects both. I like the thought of that.
  20. Beautifully put Scarlette, and exactly how I feel about the whole book soul theory.
  21. No it doesn't, but I tend to do my trip reading before and after a holiday, rather than during. I've read the James Clavell series, and it does add to the experience of visiting Hong Kong, even in the 2000's Isn't it strange the habits we form? You read the location based books on your trip and I do it either side.
  22. I've been there! It is truly booktastic!
  23. I visited Hong Kong for a holiday in 2003 and I took 'Plum Island' by Nelson DeMille to read. When we returned in 2006 I took it with me again, and enjoyed it again. When we next go back, I think Mr DeMille may be my author of choice yet again ~ it's become a tradition!
  24. I've read the whole series, and I love it. They do develop onward and outward from Magyk, but I felt the development worked well, taking the reader to places distant from the castle.
