  1. Not looking hopeful at the moment. There was a 4th film in the pipe, featuring the return of Kirk's dad (aka Chris Hemsworth) but that looks to have been shelved. There is also the possibility that there might be a Tarantino written film at some point, but as far as I know there hasn't been any movement on that for a while, either. There is a limited run TV series centered around Picard that will be released on Amazon Prime (in the UK) later this year, however...
  2. I think they have generally been good, but I didn't like parts of Into Darkness because it traded (badly) on parts of the far superior Wrath of Khan (also, Kirk and Spock were still getting to know each other in that film, so the way it played out just didn't make sense).
  3. I watched that last week as well. And Star Trek last night.
  4. And three years later... Seriously thinking about doing this now. I need to slot The Secret People (1935) in there as well. Not sure I have a copy of it.
  5. Next book coming soon?
  6. Netflix, I believe.

Europe's coming up England!* *That sounds very wrong...

    More football

^ Guessing that will have been two nights running then...
  9. Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame Two good films, looking forward to seeing where they take the MCU next.
  10. Amazon have 5 Evelyn Waugh novels for 99p each today, along with 4 Thomas Harris (Hannibal Lecter) novels. There are also a couple of John Wyndham novels (Triffids and Kraken Wakes) amongst the monthly offerings as well!
  11. Have a good Easter everyone, and don't eat too much chocolate! (Or do, I'm not your mother!)
  12. Just finished a 10 mile walk in glorious weather. Bit warmer than I generally like for walking, but it was much better than being in work!
  13. I've started re-reading The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett. For some reason I thought this would be a bit of a grind, but I've been enjoying it so far and have got through the first 50-odd pages quite quickly (for me!).
  14. Amazon 'flooded by fake five-star reviews' - Which? report Tell us something we don't know!

    Rest in Peace

Vonda N. McIntyre Cut my reading teeth on her Star Trek novelisations, and also read a rather lack-lustre Star Wars book she wrote, but I have never read any of her original writings.
  16. 'lo! Welcome to the forum! If you like dystopian books, have you read Nineteen Eighty-Four? (George Orwell). It's about as dystopian as you can get and it is packed with some amazing ideas (both interesting and disturbing in equal measure).
  17. 5. I did quite well in January, finishing 4 books, but it's taken me nearly two months to read the last one. With a quarter of the year almost gone, that will mean par of around 20 for this year!
  18. I think I've watched 22 on the list (mostly from the 90s). I don't find the Oscars very relevant these days; they feel like they are more about what the current fad is/what is popular at the time rather than what is actually the best film of the year. For example, I understand the cultural importance of Black Panther, and it is a film I enjoyed a lot, but a nomination for best picture? No. It wasn't even the best Marvel film in the last year... Good luck with your viewing, however, there are some jolly good films on that list!
  19. That's more of a comment on Interstellar than Arrival, to be honest. It was a good film, though.
  20. Arrival Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Interstellar.
  21. ^ Two good Christmas films! (they go down hill quickly after two, so be warned!)
  22. No, you haven't, but you have gone for 36...
  23. Good job, really!
  24. @Chrissy You can go all fake Yoda on me any time you like!
  25. 2, which is a good start, but given I should have finished them both last year it feels slightly hollow...
