There were at least two Discworld games on the PC, I played the demos for both of them - back in the day - but I can't say either really grabbed me. From memory, I think Eric Idle did the voice of Rincewind in both.

*Groan* Whilst the Tiffany Aching books are good, he's not written a Witches novel since he started this series and I'd far rather have a Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg and Magrat book than another one of these.

Not by much, the BBC are now reporting that they have gone into Administration.

It does get better as it goes along, the first series has some very ropey epsiodes (the one with the Cyberwoman was dreadful . . .). RTD was quoted the other day saying that talks are under way for series four, and that all going well he should start writing for it early next year.

That wasn't the film I was thinking of. I'm probably being a bit too random (and nerdy!) but both of those lines from A Tale of Two Cities were prominantly quoted in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

I know what film you've been watching! I've always thought: "Call me Ishmael." (Moby Dick, by Herman Melville) Was a good first line, but I think my favourite is: "When a day that you happen to know is a Wednesday starts off by sounding like Sunday, there is something seriously wrong somewhere" (Day of the Triffids, by John Wyndham).

Did anyone watch Paradox last night? Was it any good?

So, after many stops and starts, I finally got to the end of the first series of The Next Generation last night. Some good episodes towards the end help lift it a bit, but generally it has dated badly and some of the early episodes are ropey as hell (compared to the standard you would expect from a TV series today). One thing that made me laugh when watching the last episode, The Neutral Zone, was that for an entire series Troi generally had little more to do than sit on the Bridge saying "I think he's a bit angry, Captain" when they were being shot at. Then, when some people from the 20th century are defrosted and are struggling to adjust to their new lives, she's nowhere to be seen! (they even call in Worf at one point, but Troi? Noooooo!).

Border's are no longer selling books on-line in the UK, amid reports that they are in talks with buyers for the company. Could they be this year's Woolworths?

Are they showing the whole thing? I tried watching it on the Red Button this weekend, expecting it to be the full program, but found that they have split it up into several parts.
